I bought this vacuum about 2 years ago, when I desperately needed to replace my dead one. After much research, this one seemed to be a great value...reasonable price with great reviews. The suction is great and it picks up wonderfully. It also has a very large canister so I don't have to empty every 10 minutes. Unfortunately, it has been one thing after another. In two years I have replaced the drive belt 3 times. It just snaps. Replacing the drive belt is no easy task and in the process, despite being extrememly careful, at least two of the screw-holes broke and will no longer hold the screws in place. After I first put it together, the locking mechanism that holds it upright until you step on the little pedal, broke leaving it to fall always. If it isn't propped against the wall it will fall over. Today, we noticed that the front-wheel panel has broken somehow and there is no replacement for it. It is also a very heavy vacuum, which makes it difficult to carry up the stairs. I loved this vacuum, but with how easily it has broken in various places with normal use I cannot justify a higher rating.

Until I bought this vac 5 years ago, I always went to Consumer Reports and bought their top pick. I bought this one in a desperate attempt to immediately replace a trashed Kenmore. While I am looking to now replace my vac (I vac'd up a virtual sand box in the basement and finally overworked the motor) I think paying less than $100 for a vac that lasted this long is a bargain. And it maintained it's suction until the very end. RIP.

Be warned: This thing looks great and appears to garner quite positive reviews elsewhere. However, my experiences with it were poor. The belt will require many, many replacements -- then, in less than a year -- if yours is like mine -- the darned thing will simply die! To quote Hamlet: "Pray you avoid it!"
