Even though the federal government's DTV Transition is now complete, your analog TV set is not obsolete. However, there are some steps you must take to be able to continue to use it. To ensure continued use of your analog set, you must use a digital-to-analog converter box or connect to a subscription service, such as cable or satellite TV.
Analog TVs should continue to work with gaming consoles, VCRs, DVD players, and similar products that you use now.
Analog TVs do need a digital-to-analog converter box to receive over-the-air television broadcasts, now that the DTV Transition is completed. Analog TVs equipped with a converter box will display the digital broadcasts, but not in full digital quality.
A converter box, much like your cable box, will allow you to receive a picture, but it won't be able to deliver high-definition programming or give you access to other digital services.

I think this is probably a pretty good device but they should warn buyers that a special HD antenna is needed to get the best performance. I found this out through trial and error, incidentally this antenna will cost you more than the converter box itself did. Just be aware of what you are buying. 12/30/2012
