The raised garden bed is everything they said it was, easy to put together and attractive in the yard. From box to garden in a few short hours. The hardest part is filling it with dirt. Bonus - the slugs can't get to my garden and can put a stake at the front corners of the upper part and drape garden fabric or bird netting. Bought two and put them end-to-end. Put rubber mulch around outside so I can pick without getting shoes muddy. They are PERFECT! See photo.

I think that it is a very good product and I will probably purchase another one in the future. I wasn't prepared for the amount of soil required to fill it. I have made 3 trips to Walmart to purchase soil for it and it will take at least one more to get it full. It would be nice if the information about the product included the amount of soil it takes to fill it. It did say on the box that it takes 17 cubic feet of dirt to fill it but doesn't really tell you how much that is or that the average large bag of potting soil is about 1 cubic foot of soil. I have put about 16 bags of soil in it so far and it will take another 3 or 4 to completely fill it. This is my first project of this sort so maybe I am just not as knowledgeable as I should be. I do think that the soil requirements should be a little more understandable. I do like the product and look forward to the vegetables I will grow once I get it filled up.

This was the second purchase of this product as I needed more gardening space that took up little of my back yard. This type of gardening is easy to work with and easy to get to your produce. I like the material and ease of putting it together. I recommend it to those who want to garden in small spaces.

I got this to start a small garden close to my house. It was easy to put together, but easier if two people do it. Takes alot of soil. Used regular dirt for the bottom and good garden soil from abag for the top.

Nothing's perfect but the cons were very minor! Cons The instructions on how to put the corners in had me stumped at first but once I figure out that I had to slide the corner piece inside the side pieces, it was a piece of cake to assemble. You should be aware that raised beds take "a lot" of dirt to fill. I knew this going in. Put approx 800 lbs of dirt to fill. Pros no tools assembly - 1 hr assembly time no site prep - put it on a level part of my yard very nice look! sturdy

    • A. Yes you can. There is no bottom on it so you can just lay the fabric down and put the planter on top.

    • A. You can (and probably should) put some barrier down. You would either need to oversize it and place the unit on top or staple or screw it to the bottom and trim the excess if you don't want it to stick out the sides.

I have a steep slope that I'd like to tier for planting. Could this be put together upside down?
    by My3sonsPlus1 4/11/2011

    • A. There is no set bottom and there is nothing to separate the top tier from the bottom tier other that the soil that you supply. I put the lids from those Rubbermaid totes in there to separate the top tier from the bottom and it uses lots and lots of soil. The box says 17 cubic feet. It takes about 24 cubit feet of soil.

    • A. It could be possible to put together then flip it, though the instructions ask you to pound the metal stakes in as you put the sides together. (Likely so it's easier to hammer them together.)

    • A. You could, but why not separate it and tier it to the slope. Takes a lot of dirt.
