Good Value - basic pad though

Wal-Mart has two models of pad...one cheaper than the other and this is the cheaper one. It works very well, BUT, if I had it to do again I would have bought the other one I believe. This pad heats the same all over the pad - top to bottom, and as a result, if you make it warm enough for your feet and legs, its too warm higher up. I had the other pad on a King Size bed and bought this when I got a smaller bed. The more expensive model had a graduated heat. That meant it was warmer at the bottom and cooler at top. Spend the money for the better one unless the totally even heat is for you.

Very happy with my heated mattress pad! It has 10 heat settings and 10 hour auto off. Dual controllers for the queen and king sizes and fits mattresses up to 16" deep! It makes the winter nights nice and warm! And price is great, too!!!

This mattress warming pad is 'ok' in my estimation. It gets fairly warm, but not toasty hot. I was looking for a pad that performed like one I had in Germany. I wanted one that would get very warm/hot to use as a bed warmer to be turned on 15-20minutes before getting into bed. This pad was an improvement over one I tried from Penny's, but it falls short of the 'hot' one we had in Germany. I would also like one that had a timer option that you could set so that it automatically shut off a predetermined time after you turn it on. For instance, this pad will automatically shut off after 10 hours, like many do - but I want to be able to set it to turn off after only 1 hour, or 3 hours or whatever time i set, so that I can fall asleep in a warm bed, but not have it on all night. I would recommend this pad with reservations. If you want one to be warm, but not hot, then this will be fine. The price was certainly good. I'm still looking for the 'hot' warming pad that they have in many parts of Europe.

I purchased two heated mattress pads for my teenaged kids. The quality is good for the price. These warm up quickly and stay at a consistant temperature. The temperature is just perfect. Sometimes you can worry about a product like this being too hot that it is uncomfortable or you risk getting burned. This one is a good product. My kids love them! This also helps to save on heating costs! I don't have to keep the furnace up so high! I have an electric blanket on my bed - I'm thinking about switching to a mattress pad.

I've owned several of these over the years and recommended them to friends. Especially great if you have back problems or aches and pains. Unfortunately, my last two have had a problem with the controls going into an error. Sunbeam was familiar with the error and offered to fix it for around $50 which is about what I could replace the whole thing for. Otherwise, they're great.

For my massage table

I bought this item to act as a table warmer for my massage table. I went with a twin size and it fits perfectly. The price is definitely worth it and was much cheaper than spending a hundred dollars for a table warmer through a massage site. The only drawback I had is that I have to use a waterproof mattress pad over it and then a sheet for my clients so the heat doesn't get really hot. For sanitation reasons I have to use a waterproof topper over the heating pad but not everyone who uses this for themselves will need to do that so the heat will probably be just fine if you're using it on your own mattress. Even though there are 10 settings I just wish if put out a little more heat, but hey, it's still a great deal. My clients always say how nice and warm they are and not too hot so I guess it was a good investment for me. I would absolutely recommend this product so feel comfortable if you're thinking of purchasing this item!

Keeps me warm at night

I LOVE this heated mattress pad and I'm glad I bought it. Since it's wintertime, we have limited source of heat during the night. And plus my husband works at night so he's not around to keep me warm ;-) But this does!!!! I like how you can change the heat settings; I set it to 3 for warm or 7 for more heat is enough for me. One thing that bothers me about this product is when the lights on the controller starts blinking... that tells me that the module has been disconnected. I wish the module and the connector "clicks" in place so it doesn't happen repeatedly. So I place the pad at the head of my bed instead of the foot, this way I don't kick it. I preheat my bed with the comforter over it, tuck in the kids to bed, wash my face and brush my teeth and whatever errands I need to finish and by the time I'm done, I lay under the sheets all nice and warm from top to bottom, with no heavy layer of blankets.. it's such a luxury!!!

Better than an electric blanket
1/11/2011

Customer review by ManderZander

5.0 stars 1/11/2011 by ManderZander

Three of my family members recommended a warmed mattress pad over an electric blanket, so I bought this. I too will recommend it to others. Heating from below and having the heat rise up makes everything nice an cozy: that just-out-of-the-dryer feel. With the electric blanket, I'd often get cool spots and hot spots depending on how the blanket lay. Also, with an electric blanket, more heat is wasted heating the area above the sheets. Areas for improvement: In the past two months of winter ownership I've only set it max heating once, and that night wished it was a bit hotter. In was a cold night, but I probably keep my home colder than yours: I wear a jacket in doors during the day to save energy. The temperature control that comes with the blanket is illuminated so you can see the temperate setting in the dark. The problem is I'm sensitive to light and the control is a bit too bright for me. I solved this problem by replacing the temperate control that came with the mattress with the less bright LED backlit temperature control from my old Sunbeam electric blanket.

Make your bed a little oven!

I have an older block house that has no insulation and even though this is Arizona it gets really chilly in winter. I have wanted one of these ever since I learned they existed and once I saw it was on sale it was mine! I love it, it's much warmer than the electric blanket I have been using. Your blanket holds the heat in from below making your bed like a warming oven and keeping you toasty all night. My bed is very soft so It's not as plush as I'm used to but it's worth the sacrifice for the warmth. That would be my only complaint, I don't notice it when lying down but if you're say kneeling on the bed or leaning on an elbow the wires are noticeable. Added benefit, my back was hurting the other day so I turned up the heat and it was almost as good as a big heating pad.

Although this is not exactly the same product i ordered, mine doesn't wrap around the mattress but sets on top of the mattress, It is the same brand. I have a TempurPedic mattress and unless the room is warm, the mattress is hard as a rock and very uncomfortable. since I prefer to sleep in a cooler room, this pad solved my problem. Not only does it make my mattress more comfortable, it is heavenly to slip into a warm bed. Instead of cold sheets, they are warm. I only use the low setting and it works well with my body temp. It has dual controls for my queen size mattress making it more economical to use since I only sleep on one side of the bed. My dogs, especially the 11 year old black lab with arthritis love curling up on the bottom of the bed.

Defective Controls
3/1/2011

Customer review by ripstock

3.0 stars 3/1/2011 by ripstock

Bought over the internet. Have owned a number of these over the years, so have a frame of reference. At the lowest setting, the controls produced what was likely the medium heat or more. Even with the windows open and <30 degrees it was way too hot. (May have received the defective controls the reviewer above noted.) This model has the auto-shutoff which means one cannot use a separate on-off timer. When I called Sunbeam's customer service and inquired about an upgrade, the fellow got snooty and said all of their controls had auto-shutoff (incorrect) and in any event I would not be able to get an upgrade. WalMart politely accepted the return with full credit including shipping. Thank you, WalMart!

  • A. If you use 2 sheets over it you shouldn't be able to feel the wires. I use a waterproof mattress pad over mine (I use it for a massage table) and there's no way you can feel the wires and it still gives off a nice heat. You could probably solve the wire problem by just doubling up the sheets on your bed.

  • A. I think this varies by individual and you will only be able to tell by trying it out. My parents had fits over theirs (not the same model as here)---my dad couldn't feel a thing while my mom found the wires unbearable! If I run my hands over the pad I can feel the wires---yet I don't feel them at all when I sleep on it. But that's just me. My parents ended up putting a quilted mattress pad over the heated mattress pad, which seemed to work for them.
