  • A. Although every electric blanket I've seen says they are washable, and gives instructions on how to do so, in my experience washing them is not a good thing to do. I have never known an electric blanket to survive a washing. I've grown up using them (I'm 56), and have learned the hard way that washing an electric blanket is the best way to kill it. They just never seem to work properly, if at all, after they've been through the washing machine. I always use mine on top of a sheet and under a comforter so that keeps it relatively clean. My advice - don't wash it, no matter what the instructions say if you want it to continue working!

  • A. Electric blankets work best with another blanket on top to help hold the heat in.

  • A. I start it on high for a couple minutes, then turn it down to low. I use it under my regular blanket and it heats up my whole bed!

  • A. I had what seems like a similar situation. I found that you have to turn the temperature way up to get the blanket warm (last night I set it on 'H' to pre-warm the bed.) Then turn it down before you get into bed.

  • A. THE SENSORS INSIDE HEAT THE BLANKET UP. SO NOT ALL THE TIME. HEAT DOES BUILD UP THE SENSORS SAY STOP.

  • A. Maybe you have one that isn't working right? I have a twin size that heats up in a minute or so. I think you're right about some parts of the blanket not getting total heat but I figured that was just because I only turned mine up to 3. A trick I did on cold nights was turn it up to high before I got into bed to warm up it up and then turned it down once I was in. Maybe that will help??

  • A. Where is your blanket located. I started out using mine on top of my comforter. I now have it under the comforter. And the heat is trapped. Even on the lower settings, the blanket is warming up much quicker.

  • A. I just purchased the queen size and I'm returning it because it never does really heat up. It just gets to a "barely warm" stage when set on high, and never seems to get any warmer. I thought that perhaps mine was defective, but since you said that yours isn't heating well either, I'm guessing that maybe it's just a lousy product! I guess it's true that you get what you pay for, and unfortunately, electric blankets are getting rather pricey these days!

  • A. Just make sure you have it plugged in correctly to the blanket. Our blanket heats up quickly and I like my side low while my partner likes it warmer and it works perfectly for us.
