We've had an above ground pool for several years, and most of the time we have used an articulated umbrella to overhang the pool and give some relief from the sun while in the pool. It has always been a combersome affair putting it up, keeping it tied down so the wind doesn't tip it away or into the pool. then later folding it up for over night. With the Canopy the wind does pose as much of a problem and putting it up and taking it down at the end of the day isn't nearly as difficult as the umbrella system. I'm surprised that Walmart doesn't carry these in store, I think they would sell very well. And I only found out about them looking on line at other things.

I purchased this product to throw some shade on our pool and it does just that. It covers about half of the pool which is perfect for those who want to bake in the sun and those who don't. It was very easy to assemble by myself. It only took about 15-20 minutes to assemble (like a tent) and install on the pool. I installed my cover on the south side of my pool because that's where I get the most benefits from the shade during the peak sunlight hours. It gives me the shade I really wanted and needed! Also, it keeps the water temperature lower which is beneficial in preventing/reducing chlorine loss and the associated costs. We live in south Georgia and the sun is very hot, especially from 11AM to 7PM. I almost gave up swimming during the day because of the intense sunlight and the hotter water - until I came across this wonderful product. THANK YOU Summer Escapes for coming up with the idea! Now I can take a dip any time I want without having to cover myself in suntan lotion which is bad for the paper filter - I don't use any now. As far as the quality of this canopy, I'm "luke-warm" - that's why I only gave it four stars. It's only been up three days and some of the stitching is already starting to unravel at the location where the snap buckles (another great idea) attach. So far, I'm VERY pleased with it and am keeping my fingers crossed that it will last throughout the entire summer. Because this canopy is such a low cost, I would recommend it to a friend even with the potential quality issues. Stronger stitching would certainly improve this wonderful product. Walmart delivered this item very quickly - as always.

We thought this was going to be great. Our AG pool is in full sun and is very warm during the day. Not too difficult to assemble, but rather cheaply made. It's a pain to take on and off, as it does not fold back up once the rods are in place.. The worst part was after a week a big gust of wind came up and before we could get it down, it snapped main rod in to..useless...

The advertising pictures gave me the impression it was a solid dome that had capacity to open to half.... The product is flimsy and has already begun to unravel at the seams before the first day of instillation was over... but hey what can you exect for $29.00... LOL

Great pool shade in scorching sun

Some reviews complain that this cover only protects about 1/3 of the pool. The directions clearly state that the product does not cover the whole pool. On my Intex 15' this cover sits pretty high. I have it installed on the western side of the pool to provide shade in the scorching afternoon sun. It was easy to install by myself although the instructions state that two people are needed. It must be removed in high winds. I am pleased with the product. It functions exactly as it should.

  • A. Wind would definitely tear up the shade. It is made like a tent woud be. I take mine down after we swim to keep the weather from tearing it up.

  • A. I remove mine in high winds before they do it for me. The poles are like the ones usued in tents long sectional fiberglass poles that slide into clamps at 3 points so the wind could easily lift it out or tear it. I don't take the chance.

  • A. You will not want to keep this canopy up during high winds. I think it may tear it or worse, blow it away. There are no vent holes to allow the wind to flow through, rather it behaves like an over-sized kite.

  • A. Like a sail if it's facing the direction of the wind - depending on how strong it is. There are spaces all around the lower portion and it allows the wind to exit. In very strong winds, I would take it down until the storms over.

  • A. No it does not. It says in the book it fits the ultra frame, but the bracckets to hold the pool will not fit on the d frame poles even without the plastic inserts. I just found this out on 5/13/13 when I tried to attach it to my 16ft ultra frame pool
