  • A. Yes, you can have one big room. I think one room is better. The divideres are simply a piece of fabric that you hook to the ceiling.

  • A. It really is just one room (not big). The so called dividers just hook in and don't go all the way to the walls, floor or ceiling. The side areas are not large.

  • A. No you can have it so it's one big room, and if you should decide to use the dividers, it cuts you sleeping space way down, the rooms are very small

  • A. You can have just one big room. In fact, the room dividers are simply thin white sheets that fit into loops sewn onto the inside of the tent in four corners. They are easy to put up and take down.

  • A. Yes, you can use it as one big room, however, the tallest area of the tent is dead center in front of the door and is not comfortable for adult standing or movement as it slopes dramatically on the ends.

I used to camp about 10 times a year many years ago when I was single. Now that I'm married, my wife and I wanted to start camping now that we have more time together. I had a Coleman 9x12 Mountain Lodge back then and it was outright fun. It's been lost over the years so we needed a new one. I bought this tent/screenroom for the obvious reason, it appears to have quite a bit of space (and I didn't see the screenroom aspect yet). That was one thing I told her that was important for all that I had done before. So we bought the Wyoming. This last weekend, I went to put it up in the backyard so I could seal all the seams. I did not even get all the stakes in the ground before I decided we needed something else. I didn't care about the triangular footprint (it appears deceiving in main image), I didn't care that the end pods were so much smaller (that appears deceiving also). I DID care that there was so much screen and a complete inability to zip an inner flap up for either privacy or to keep some warmth in. The two end windows and the front door are all that have inner rain/privacy flaps. To cover the rest, you have to have the Rainfly on. This is mostly a spring and summer tent/screenroom. I have been looking all over and keep seeing this same trend right now. I can understand the need to have some mesh for the tent to dissipate moisture so you don't have condensation, but this is ridiculous. A screened window should have the ability to be zipped for at least privacy. And this has A LOT OF MESH. I would not recommend this as a true tent. Depending on your location, I would also not recommend this tent/screenroom below 60 or 65 degrees outside temp either. I'm sure that there will be others with different views on the temp, but I'm used to a different style of what's called a tent. I am going to return this and get the Wenzel Big Bear 9x14. I have already seen comments that the air vents up top are so much smaller and covering them makes the tent hot. I need a true Fall weather capable tent, hence the 3 seasons capability. I also wish that the Walmart website would let you post more than 2 images of a product. This would help customers inform other customers more completely. I can say that the person capacity of the packaging is not accurate either. With gear, you can figure on 2 people less. I hope this helps someone looking for a true tent to have a better perspective of this tent/screenroom.

A response to those who complain about the size

I have been camping for more than 20 years. I have owned and stayed in many styles of tents from hiking 1-2 person tents to tents like this one from coleman, ozark trails, suisse sport, and the best canvas tents. The measurements used to state size are floor dimensions from outside corner to outside corners. In other words, layed flat on the ground, 18' long x 10' wide. When erected the actual inside dimensions may be slightly smaller. The only ones I've seen in the 20 years of camping that are actual inside measurements are the extremely expensive canvas guide type tents and the house/cabin looking tents which are very expensive and difficult to erect with less than 3 people. As for number of people, it is based on average size men & women, of course if you're a larger than average stature the fewer the people the tent will sleep. These tents are made for weekend/week long camping. This is not a tent that I would take to the Yukon for a month long hunting or fishing excursion, for that I would get a guide quality canvas tent.

Deceptive dimensions

The 18'x10' dimensions are deceptive as it is taken from the extensions for gear that extend out from the front to the outermost point in the back. It is really a one room tent (6' headspace) with 2 smaller 'rooms' (3-4' head space - NOT 6') I'd say 4 people max could sleep here unless they are small children. There is a plastic holder like a star that holds all the support poles - if this breaks I'd suggest getting really long poles and feed through opposite sides (criss-cross) At first I was afraid of having the Taj Mahal - having it be too large. As a couple it will be fine. Nice airy with lots of screening. Bring light sheets for extra privacy screens. There are 2 provided for room separation. Only one gear pouch inside by the window.

The side "rooms" are a little small, but the overall size is huge! The kids and I had plenty of room to lay down & have our luggage in our own "rooms". We could even stand without being hunched over in the center room. I had a cot & a large suitcase & still had plenty of room to move around in the center area.

SO I rarely ever write reviews- but I had to for this tent. My family and I were going camping for the first time with some friends. Having never gone camping before, I had no clue what to expect, but at one of my friends' recommendation, opted to purchase this tent. We went for a weekend, from Friday afternoon til Sunday morning. As we arrived, it started raining, so of course we had to haul butt to try to put up the tent #never having done so before no less!# We open the package- lo and behold! NO INSTRUCTIONS! Needless to say we were a bit distraught before we realized, honestly, it wasn't rocket science- you put the rod in the hole and voila! In less than 1/2 hour our tent was up! That night, it thundered and poured- the heavens opened up, lightning and all, but my family and I were nice and dry in our tent! I am about to purchase two more since I'm now addicted to camping and intend to go back in a few weeks with my mom, aunt, cousin and brother :) I would recommend this tent to everyone- even first time campers, since I was one myself and it worked out so well for us! Very roomy inside- we were able to put a queen size mattress in there and still have room for two sleeping bags and our cooler of food and suitcases and bags with our clothing. We did not spend too much time in the tent so, I honestly did not pay too much attention to the height of the tent, but the fact that it was able to hold all of our stuff without seeming too overwhelming was enough for me! Excellent value! Excellent buy!
