I've had Straight Talk for two years. Wanted a higher end phone and this S4 was an excellent choice. Three minute phone call to Straight Talk activated phone and transferred my existing number and auto refill. Dazzling display and a great camera. Voice calls are good. Get full 4G almost everywhere I go. Can't think of any cons.

I switched from Verizon to Straighttalk with apprehension. Just hard to throw 15 years down the tube. Tired of paying Verizon $125 a month and they wouldnt budge on price. So They left me no choice, I reluctantly switched. I looked for a 4G/LTE phone on the ATT network. There is a cool easy way to see which straighttalk phones work on which network. Anyhoo. I ordered the ZTE Unico, I was thrilled when I got it, and it ran great for 7 days, then trouble started. The scree would fizzle out and go plack, when phone went to sleep, it wouldnt wake up, contantly rebooting, master resets, nothing worked, frustrated. I called straighttalk, and you either have to send the phone back to get a new one sent, which, who can wait 2-3 weeks to get a new phone? OR, you can purchase another phone and transfer package, which is what I did, I chucked out the $500 and bought a real NAMED phone i could trust. The S4 is awesome. Boxed up old new phone and sent back, should get refund. IF you do straighttalk and have to send phone back for some reason, do NOT throw anything away, especially the shipping papers, you will need them. Make sure you pick a phone whose network is strong in your area, that is key. So far, Im a happy camper with STalk and the S4...

This phone is a step up from my LG 38C. It has more bells and whistles than the S3 but not quite as many as the S5. I was especially impressed with the photo quality. This phone has numerous features and capabilities. I discovered by accident that I could use it as a remote control for my TV. Aside from all the extras, as a phone it works great. Sound quality is excellent and the speaker phone sounds like you're talking to someone standing next to you. I'm still learning it's features and capabilities. I bought it at Wal Mart priced at $450.00 which was the best price I could find on a new one. There were used and refurbished ones on eBay that were priced lower but I was leery to buy one of them. The sales representative at Wal Mart asked if I needed help getting it activated. I told him yes, and he took care of it for me. I was transferring my number from my old phone to the new one so he said it could take a few hours for the change to take effect. About 3 hours later my new phone was activated and ready to use. If you purchase a new smartphone regardless of make or model, I strongly suggest protecting it with a case and screen protector. Accessories are available just about everywhere for the Samsung Galaxy phones. I found a nice case for it in Dollar Tree. It fits perfectly. How can you go wrong for a dollar? See photo

Of course, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Prepaid Cell Phone is an awesome phone for prepaid! the issue lies with StraightTalk and perhaps AT&T, which is the carrier this phone operates on. first of all, there was an issue getting the phone to work in 4G LTE mode. I do have an AT&T tower about a mile from my house, so coverage is NOT an issue. HOWEVER, because AT&T is allowing this phone on their network thru Straight Talk (an MVNO), this phone never achieves anywhere near full LTE speeds. Fastest I was ever able to achieve was about 4.2 mbps (the SAME phone directly on the AT&T network on contract gets almost 30mpbs). StraightTalk toruble shoots the phone the same every time you call using a script the tech's read off a screen. This never helped the phone, so it leaves me to believe that StraightTalk 4GLTE phones on the AT&T network are throttled. More often the phone shows the indicator at H or H+ (3G speeds in AT&T talk). The phone would show 4G (not 4G LTE), but then again the speeds were never above 4-5 mbps. Another thing is that if you are doing any activity like streaming a small video or streaming music (pandora for example), for any length of time, they will reduce your speeds even more.. Other users complain thatd they get warnings that they have used over their 3GB allowance (yeah, its NOT unlimited), when they've only used 1.3GB or so only 10 days into their billing cycle. Its an endless battle fighting Straight Talk about this issue. So the phone is not the issue, Straight Talk isthe issue with its throttling schemes. Forewarned!

  • A. It depends on the model. I know first hand that Model SG970 is on T-Mobile. I purchased this phone and after I activated it, all I had was phone capabilities and no mobile data. After hours and hours on the phone (some were painful as I couldn't understand the tech, hold times very lone and even cut off a couple of times) with ST, they finally determined that I do not have T-Mobile in my area. After a couple of more calls and at least a hundred different, one tech determined that I don't have T-Mobile in my area, and they would send me an AT and T SIMS card. Well the SIMS card will not work in the phone as it is locked. My next call was to get shipping information to send the phone back during which I actually talked with a Tech that knew what to do and said she would send me a return shipping label and when they got the phone back they would send me the SG975 which uses AT and T towers, waiting and hoping they send the right one. I hope this helps you determine if the phone will work for you. By the way, the phone is awesome compared to my S3, faster, better resolution, much better camera and some great features.
