I originally intended to buy a 45.00 straight talk wireless phone card to activate a BYOP phone but I saw this ""deal"" of a phone and the 45.00 card together for only 49.95 WOW get a card and a back up phone for like 5.00 extra, what a deal. I was so stupid anyway, I discovered that even though straight talk's web site claimed my own phone (Samsung galaxy indulge sch-r910) was approved for use in the BYOP promotion, it wouldn't work so I was disappointed but I had the backup Samsung precedent I’d have to be happy with that. after much hair pulling I finally managed to get my newly activated service transferred to the Samsung precedent and though I was all good. what followed was one disappointment after another using wifi I installed the facebook app and eBay app (storage space is low) WHAT, I only installed 2 small apps. then ping, ping, ping several incoming text messages were rejected. it said because low storage space but the settings said the 2gb SD card was empty. turns out the phone comes with so little memory (much of which is taken up by preinstalled apps that can't be removed) that you can't install any apps of your own. if you do it will max out your tiny memory and sms/mms won't work. I even tried the app app2sd but most apps can't be moved to SD and even the ones that can have to install on the phone first. now I ask you, what good is an android smart phone if you can't install apps and you can't hold more then a few text messages? but wait it gets better, when I tried to talk to a friend by phone the signal was so weak and static filled that I couldn't understand them and finally lost the signal completely (this in the area code the phone was activated to work in) and when I turned off wifi and tried to use the WAP data internet it was so slow it took 2 minutes for Google’s mobile formatted home page to load TWO MINUTES! this isn't 3G it's not even 2G the internet on this thing is PARCEL POST! so: PRO: it only cost me $5.00 for the phone CON the phone (talk) doesn't work, text doesn't work, internet doesn't work, you can't install apps, you can't import contacts, you can't save your text messages, you can't ANYTHING!!! basically anything you might want an android phone for, forget doing it with this phone. this is the absolute worst phone I’ve ever used (and I’d been a cricket customer since 2005) oh, and if you want customer service from straight talk? don't bother, they don't want to help you, they don't know how to help you and they just give you the runaround until you give up and go away. I would not suggest this phone to my worst enemy, let alone anyone I liked. if it was free, I’d still want my money back. as soon as this 30 day plan card runs out I’m switching back to cricket, straight talk is Trash. p.s. the attached picture was taken less then an hour after activation of the Samsung precedent and only 2 apps installed and just under 300 contacts (name and number only no pix or other data) imported via Bluetooth from a Motorola hint

We purchased the Straight Talk package and Galaxy phone as it seemed like a great deal. Sometimes paying a little extra is worth it. The phone has no coverage and drops reception in the middle of a call. We downloaded a Facebook app and it took up so much memory on the phone that after three voicemails, we were unable to access the calls. And no further texts could be received or sent until the app was uninstalled. On group text messages, the texts come through individually, so you cannot follow the thread of messages, making it very hard to know what the conversation is about. And the phone has no bells and whistles (not that they are expected on such a cheap phone). You would be better off paying a little extra to get the high quality coverage and phone from Verizon, which we will be switching back to ASAP. We have had the phone for a week and a half and have had nothing but issues since we received it. Save your money on this item and get a better service plan.

First the good. It does EVERYTHING my old i-phone did! $50 is better than $130 a month for i-phone. I have dropped it out of work truck, slammed door of truck on it, dropped it countless times and it still works. Love that I don't have to make i-tunes account with credit card info to download apps from play store. The camera is AWESOME!!!! Internet surfing is good. The bad..... Freezes often when ending a call and takes a long time to connect calls. Will drop 1 out of 5 calls. Group text will come in randomly so you can not follow thread. Storage space is low straight out of the box. Sometimes it will not charge, will tell me that the charger isn't the correct charger, but I let the battery run all the way down then charge it off, then turn it on. So yes this phone is cheap and frustrating, but I have used it for over two years and can't kill it, so that says a lot.

I've had this phone for a few months now. Out the box you'll get a nice looking phone that has what you would expect from the Android system. However, if you're looking to download a couple apps you'll soon realize that the phone barely has enough memory to support what it already has. It comes with facebook from the factory. If you don't upgrade the app you'll have no problem. Once you upgrade it you'll see that it uses most of the phones memory and it cannot be transferred to your SD Card. Same with the Email app. Both of those have the tendency to use up 85-90% of your RAM and 90-100% of your phone memory. At best you can probably download 2 small game apps, but nothing else. Don't expect to download anything after the factory programs update themselves. You'll see the low memory warning consistently. The phone is 3G and Straight Talks 3G service is beyond horrible. Dropped calls and ok speaker is what this phone offers over time. Pros: It has Wi-Fi and takes an good picture for having a 2 MP camera, but you must have an adequate amount of light. It has the potential to make phone calls as you would expect from a phone.

I bought this phone because I was low on money, and it seemed like a good deal. I was switching back from an iPhone, so of course, I'm used to something different. Overall, the phone seemed good, until I tried to download a couple apps. For one, when/if you do download an app, they run very slow. For two, after a couple apps, the phone is out of storage space. I do have a microSD card, but it still wont let me download the apps. I bought the same phone for my fiance, and he loves it, but he uses it for basic stuff. He did complain that the screen goes blank when hes trying to make a call sometimes. My advice, if you're using it for more than the basics, save your money and buy something better. I've had mine for a week, and am already looking for a new phone.

  • A. Yes you can download apps but on a limited bases. The phone has very little internal RAM. You can use a SIM card to increase capacity, but not all apps allow you to utilize a SIM card.

  • A. yes, as long as you receive mobile internet. StraightTalk can suspend or cancel it at anytime with no notice. I was using the mobile internet service everyday, and then all of a sudden I don't have it. It's written there in the fine print.
