Customer Product Reviews

Rated 4.7 out of 5★ by 86reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Read this review before buying This has nothing to do with Walmart -- just the Straight Talk service. I read a lot of reviews and was concerned about streaming Netflex. This wasn't a personal issue, just that when a description says unlimited data I want it to mean unlimited data.OK, I got the iPhone 5 and once I had everything setup, I tested Netflex. I made sure my wifi was turned off. The Netflix connection took a bit longer than normal and once connected the video wasn't quite as crisp as it would be with wifi. But other than that, it did play just fine.I think any negative reviews I saw on other blogs may have been older reviews or with different phones. I saw where Straight Talk addressed this in a PC Mag. Blog and their response answered my concerns. Hey, the only reason I'd want to watch Netflix on an iPhone is if I'm out shopping with my wife and I want to retreat to the car to watch TV. (That alone justified this purchased!)Now about the reconditioned iPhone 5. Go for it! Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but reconditioned means it's as good as new -- at least to the end user. Saving $150 is a big deal. Just know that like most carrier specific phones, this is a Straight Talk FOREVER device. This is why I read so many reviews. WALMART --- LISTEN UP. I'm trusting you to stand behind Straight Talk and make sure they stay in business for a very long time. Also, see if your bank or credit card has a $600 12 month no interest deal going on. Barclaycard did so this deal is costing me $25 a month for a year with NO CONTRACT!!!!! Straight Talk is $45 + maybe sales tax but none of the long list of taxes and fees that none of us understand.I've got friends paying over $100 moth and they're stuck on a contract for a couple of years.I don't work for Walmart or Straight Talk. I've made my living as a designer using Macs for 30 years and never could justify $100+ month for a cell phone. Walmart's reconditioned iPhone 5 deal is too sweet not to enjoy. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. 09/03/2013
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Love the phone, but no 4g with Straight Talk. I absolutely love this phone. Even though it is refurbished, you can't tell it from a brand new phone. But I expected to get 4g. I was activated on the Verizon network with Straight Talk and there is definitely 4g Verizon towers in my area and other areas where I travel. The only thing I can think of is that the agreement between ST & Verizon doesn't allow 4g for the iphone on ST. Straight Talk should make this known before someone buys their service. I switched from Verizon to ST about a year ago and I think it is a much better value. But I paid a lot for this phone and I want to be able to use it's full capabilities. If I can't get 4g, I will return the phone or see if I can use it on another network. I'm not sure if it is an "unlocked" phone. I would welcome comments from anyone who knows more about how this works. 09/25/2013
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Great phone I had a 4th generation Apple iPod touch for a year before I finally decided to buy an iPhone. The phone itself is flawless and exceptionally beautiful. It's easy to use and easy to personalize. As far as Straight Talk, so far the service has been good. No dropped calls whatsoever. The only thing is that sometimes 3G is a little slow, but only in some places. I work in a school so there is always Wifi available and I predominately use wifi at home, too- so I haven't had much use for the data yet. Another issue was the charger that came with the phone. I don't know if it's because the phone is refurbished, but I had an issue with the screen shaking while the phone was being charged. It's not a big issue, it's just hard to scroll. The problem is the charger is not a genuine Apple charger. But that can be easily remedied by buying the aforementioned charger which, for the amount of money you are saving by buying this iPhone from Straight Talk, should be no problem. 10/09/2013
Rated 5 out of 5★ by It Doesn't Get Better Than This! Received my "refurbished" iPhone 5 in "like-new" condition cosmetically and functionally! The "Roll Back" price was $444.88 and included a 30 Day Straight Talk card. The Straight Talk card sells for $45, so do the math! The iPhone 5 cost just 399.88 and includes a 1 Year Apple Warranty! Meanwhile, used iPhone 5 models are selling on eBay for $400-500. What?Set up was quick and easy. In a matter of minutes my iPhone 5 was upgraded to the new IOS 7 operating system (great!) and activated on Straight Talk. This is a CDMA phone which uses Verizon's signal. I live in a rural area and had poor reception in the past with AT&T and Sprint. So I was very happy to see 5 bars (dots actually) on the signal strength indicator. The data speed is fast! Voice quality on phone calls is very good. The iPhone 5 is nearly identical to the "new" iPhone 5C. The difference being that the 5C has a polycarbonate (plastic body) and is available in a variety of bright colors. The iPhone 5 has the higher grade aluminum and glass body. Which would you choose? A new 5C at $549, or a like-new refurbished iPhone 5 at $399? Both include Apple's 1 Year Warranty. To extend my initial 30 day service, I decided to opt for Straight Talk's One Year Service Card which sells for $495. This works out to $41.25 a month, compared to $45 when paid monthly. I should mention that Straight Talk's data service is 3G (not 4G/LTE). However, there is no 4G signal in my area, as currently it is only found in major population centers. My experience with the 3G service so far is very good. It's plenty fast enough for my needs. For $41.25 a month, it is a terrific value, especially compared to Verizon or AT&T at around $90 or more.Keep in mind that "unlimited data" on Straight Talk will be slowed to EDGE speed (slow!) if you consume a lot of data. Although they don't provide details, it looks like slower speeds begin after 2GB of data are used within a 30 day period. I don't use a large amount of data, about 1GB a month, so this is not an issue for me, but it might be to heavy users. The iPhone 5 is a superb device! And Straight Talk works as promised! 5 Stars!! 09/27/2013
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Great phone / excelente telefono I got this phone in a box , obviously not the original apple box. when you open it there is another box that contains the phone, cable, headphones and the cube charger in bags , the phone is well wrapped with bubble bag . It came in great condition like new. Definitely recommend this phone. Don't go for the $650 new phone, even if this is refurbished it looks new, feels new and doesn't have any scratches. Also comes with a $45 card to add it for month. If you dont want the Straight Talk service the only thing you got to do is not activate it with straight talk when you get it. Go to whatever company you'd like your phone to be in and thats it :). The service is good so far though, when im home i just use the Wifi to browse the internet, watch videos etc so i turn the cellular data off. The only thing about it that i don't like is that when your on the phone talking with someone, its low so you might want to use headphones or put the speaker on :) 10/13/2013
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Phone looks and works like brand new I saved $150.00 over another popular prepay competitor for the phone. Straight talk is $5.00 per month cheaper with $45 for the monthly plan which is a savings of $60 per year, dinner for two paid for. 09/07/2013
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Love the phone! I really do love this phone and the service from Straight Talk is very good in the areas they say it will work. I have no complaints about the working condition of the phone. It arrived before the date promised looking like a brand new iPhone 5, only not in the original box. The only reason I gave it less than perfect stars is that I was sure the original listing said the phone had the original Apple warranty of 90 days phone support and 1 year manufacturers warranty. This is not the case as when I contacted Apple to register the product, I was told the purchase date was October of 2013 and could not be changed but that the warranty is still in effect until October 2014. So, I have only a 9 month warranty instead of 12 month. However, I worked for weeks trying to get as good a deal on Ebay and could not find a used iPhone 5 for $400, so I still think this is a very good deal and would recommend it. I have owned the phone for 2 weeks. 02/19/2014
Rated 5 out of 5★ by iPhone is just Incredible! The iPhone with Siri is really just an incredibly useful piece of technology. I asked it for the NFL scores yesterday and it just read them off even adding ESPN like verbiage "like soundly defeated" or "in the battle of Ohio". Everything about the phone is incredibly user friendly and I know that I have just scratched the surface of its functionality. Having bought it without a subsidy is surely worth it because of the no-contract deal with Straight Talk. Taking into account the $45 bonus card included, I consider the phone to really have a net cost of ~$400. My only ding on the deal is I still can't believe I paid $400 for a phone, but realistically I'm sure the functionality of the iPhone will pay off and paying only ~$45 a month for unlimited service sure does beat my old contract phones. And I'm sure there are plenty of apps (like cheap gas finders) that will save me extra money over time. Truly great phone and very attractive service price through Straight Talk. 09/30/2013
