Storkcraft - Aspen Combo 3-Drawer Dresser, Cherry 3.8 5 240 261
Happy overall I had a really difficult time picking out a changing table for our first daughter. I read way too many reviews and that only made it harder to choose! I really like the overall style of the table and while cherry wood can be difficult to match, it looks pretty similar to the Delta crib we bought from Target. My husband assembled the table fairly easily. We thought there were missing hardware parts, but they were already put together in the hardware bag, so check if the same thing happens to you.I was surprised at how sturdy it was overall- I expected much more particle board. The bottom of the drawers are cardboard, as is the backing. The inside pieces of the table are made from particle board, but the outside pieces are real wood and the color is great. There was only a small area on the cabinet door that was slightly damaged, but not enough for me to take it back.I was also a little worried about how shallow the drawers would be after reading other reviews. They are shorter than the front of the drawers, but I was able to stack ten newborn onesies without going over the sides. It is baby furniture after all, and it seems like this is a concern for many other changing table drawers as well.I have never ordered through the site-to-store from Wal-Mart before, but I was very impressed. It came sooner than expected and was easy to pick up.I did not rate it as excellent because of the fact particle board is used and not all real hardwood. I can not say how long it will last, but I hope that we get at least a few good years out of it, considering the price we paid. 06/13/2009
Love it!! I bought this dresser because it was the closest matching color and style to my baby's crib. I was very worried about all the bad reviews on different sites about how "cheap" and how "difficult to assemble" it was. Well, I have to say, I bought this dresser from Walmart, put it together by myself w/ not one problem. The directions were very self explainatory, and if you have put together pieces of furniture before, you should not have a problem at all. All the drawers lined up perfectly, there was no hardware missing, and no need to "drill new holes" what so ever. It is very sturdy, very thick, and very nice! The drawers are lacking in depth, however the front of the drawers are very big. So you can pile clothes pretty high, just won't be much support on the sides. It is baby furniture after all. It is also much larger than I expected, a definite plus! It is beautiful and I am not worried what so ever about using this as a changing table for her. I am now on my mission to review it on as many sites as possible so no one else fears buying this as much as I did. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! I plan to buy the matching 5 drawer dresser soon! 03/27/2009
Save your money I purchased this combo dresser because I thought it was attractive, well priced, and practical. I liked the idea of having a changing table that could transition to a dresser when my child was older since it didn't look as much like a changing table as some other models.I put it together without too many difficulties, although there were a few pre-bored holes that were not correctly lined up, which forced me to having to drill my own holes. Additionally, I found that because this dresser is largely pressboard with a veneer finish, that the screws didn't always hold as tightly as they should. I wasn't overly concerned about it at the time because the dresser was so attractive, but now having used it for 10 months, I wish that I would have put my money towards a solid wood dresser, even if it would have been more expensive.Much to my disappointment and frustration, the screws holding the drawer railings and those holding the hinge for the cubby door often come loose making it impossible to properly shut the drawers/door without tightening them again. To compound the problem, many of the screws holes have already been stripped from repeating tightening, which has forced me to utilize glue to get them to stay. The problems I've had with the drawer railings have also resulted in damage to the wheels which allow the drawers to shut properly. As a result, I've had to use soap or other lubricants to grease the railings just so the drawers close.Needless to say, I am doubtful that this piece of furniture will last long enough for us to use it in the nursery for our second/third child, let alone make the transition primarily from a changing table to a dresser for our son when he is older. I know it is tempting to by presswood furniture because hardwood furniture is so expensive, but if you want to get any kind of long term use from a dresser combo, this is NOT the dresser for you! 02/02/2008
Terrific Value We have used this changing table for a year now and it still looks perfect. The drawers glide smoothly, the cabinet door closes perfectly. We couldn't be happier. The best part is that it matches the crib perfectly. Some sets don't always match. It is definitely a piece that will transistion as our daughter grows. This is very good value for the money. It did take awhile to put together, but it was worth the patience. 07/09/2008
