Seems Great So Far

I just installed this mailbox on 6-1-13 and it looks great on our street. We are the 3rd on our street to install it with the other two located two houses away in both directions. Our previous wood mailbox was discolored and deteriorated and not standing straight which made me want to find a mailbox that I would not have to maintain. I never understood why people keep using wood for their mailboxes. Anyway I had no problem assembling the mailbox or installing it on the post at the street. There is one thing I noticed once I got the roof of the mailbox together, there is a fairly large seem that runs along the side of the top of the box. I would imagine water can penetrate this and get your mail wet. I will be APPLYING A BEAD OF SEALANT ALONG the large seam and any other seam in the roof, that is just standard roofing practice. I think the mailbox should come with larger street# stickers also. Otherwise I really like everything about this mailbox. I hope it lasts a long time.

The mailbox is nice but the magnetic doors have a very weak magnets and the doors can be opened by wind. I suggest a stringer magnet that is flush with the opposing metal on the back of the door lid.

Lock impossible to install

I bought this several months ago, but have not replaced my other mailbox because I still cannot get the lock on the long door installed. Even if it were safe to do so in my neighborhood, the long door will not stay closed without this lock, so it is essentially useless and taking up space in the living room. Because it hasn't been used, I cannot comment on how it works. I have chiseled and prodded to try to get the lock in (and I have put together much more complex things). I tried hammering it in(even this was hard as the door is already connected at the bottom and difficult to get purchase). I will say that the material seems heavy duty as hours of work chiseling have not noticeably increased the hole! I have been hesitant to use my power drill. What if it slips and makes too large a hole? As previously mentioned, the box can't be used without the lock. I can't really afford professional help right now. This lock should have been installed at the factory.

Very poor construction; lock hole had to reamed out by me in order for the lock to fit and the mailbox doors would not close completely due to a poor mold for the magnet to fit into. This storage area will leak and your mail will get wet. Looks like extremely poor quality control in the mold area of manufacturing. I would not recommend this product to anyone; even an enemy.

[...] Fit of top mail doors (front & rear) is critically dependent upon proper positioning of already-installed latch magnets, which were poorly positioned on the delivered unit. Steel latch tabs on the top two doors meerly press into slots in the doors with only barbs to secure them. One was hanging out on one tiny barb all but completely free from the door. This needs better fastening design. The sidewalk-side upper door is situated directly above a metal structural cross piece. Examination of the path for rain water entering from around the sidewalk-side top mail door indicates likely flow directly into the lower mail accumulation space to produce soggy mail. This nice idea for a mailbox needs design refinement. This plus quality production assembly at the factory [...] and installation by the customer could result in a winner product, which the current product is clearly not. We returned the MailMaster to Step2

This mail box is very nice and sturdy. You can open it from front or back, you can go on vacation and your mail can be delivered with no one having to come and get your mail because it holds up to 3 weeks of mail. Awsome!!!!

Went in in reasonable amount of time considering we had to remove plants and part of a stump. HOA president had no problems with the style even though they are considering a change to a standard mailbox style. Only problem was the washer to fit the lock mechanism was too small. However the husband was able to get one at hardware store no problem. We have not had wet conditions or windy ones to test the functioning of the storage area (keeping mail dry) or the door staying shut but feel it will live up to the claims. we will have to figure out the placement of an additonal box for the newspaper and also the tube for our neighborhood notices. Wish there was some way to incorporte that in the fixture or that it was offered as an add-on feature. Otherwise we look forward to testing the storage area this winter.

This is by far the BEST purchase I've made this year. I can't remember when I've been so excited and impressed by something I ordered from a catalog. Even my husband is walking around he neighborhood accepting compliments and discussing the attractiveness of the mailbox. Never mentioning the, "OH BOY, what have you bought this time" look he gave me when the box was delivered to our house. No, he just smiles and takes ALL the credit.(he he he) He's even enhanced the look, by enclosing the base of the mailbox with decorative bricks and planting flowers around it. I must say, it is very very attractive. And, as if it couldn't get any better, I also ordered the Step2 Mail Minder notification device that lets us know when the mail is delivered (AWESOME, JUST AWESOME) Step2, you are ALL THAT!!!!!

The StoreMore Mailbox is easy to install (the most difficult task was removing the old mailbox). It is flexible, in that it adapts to the needs of any given installation. Each side of the box has a mail-entry door that allows you to position the box so that the long, mail-removal door can face the street or the yard. My letter carrier likes the box because he doesn't have to over stuff the mailbox when I am gone or when I have a large delivery. The large storage capacity also saves my neighbor's time because they don't have to stop by my house every day to retrieve my mail. The only possible problem with the StoreMore mailbox is that it is plastic. However, any other material would be more expensive, difficult to install and less weather-resistant. I love this mailbox!

All I want to know is WHERE do you get the POST to install this item. All I see for an answer is: "Walmart does not sponsor, recommend or endorse any third party product or service, or any customer ideas or advice." WHERE do you get the POST to install this item and how much is the metal post, for it? Does it tell you after you buy the mail box???

  • A. You can get a post at any Home Depot of lumber yard. We used a 4 x 4 I think it was 3 feet long so we anchored 2 feet inside the bottom of the mailbox and 1 foot we cemented in the ground. If I"m not mistaken the instructions say 4 foot post is needed but mine wasn't that long.

  • A. You go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy a 4-ft. treated mailbox post. It's made out of wood, not metal. The mailbox has a section that slides over the post, and it has some pre-drilled holes in it. They send you the bolts that will go through the mailbox and into the post.

  • A. You can buy a 4x4 post at your local Hardware store or lumber yard. I would not recommend a metal post since you have to bolt the mailbox to the post to secure it.
