We have hard tile floors and these mats are so much better than carpet/rugs. They are comfortable for the kids to sit and play on or read books. The best part is I throw them in the tub with some disinfectant occassionally, rinse, airdry and I know they are germ free. You can't do that with carpet!

We use this mat outside with my son's sand and water table so he doesn't have to stand on the hot cement and its safer too. This mat has gotten wet and muddy and we just spray it off with the hose and it dries great very nicely padded too

Large squares, easy to put together. I have a daycare and I needed something soft for the little ones to crawl and play on. I ordered several of them to fill the space. Now, if the toddlers fall down, they are not as likely to get up crying because it didn't hurt when they landed!

    • Because if you have a cat or cats, like me, they will use them as a scratching post/ surface. When they do, small holes form. Then extremely tiny pieces come off. Or pieces stick up. Then a tiny baby or 2 (twins), pulls that piece off and puts it in his mouth. That's why they say not recommended for children under 3. And that's where the small parts come into play. I still use them. I just have to watch him, check the mats daily for tears, and smack the cat every time she does it. ( just kidding)

    • I guess maybe if they bite a piece of the link part off? Since they are foam material... My daughter has had them since she was 5 months old however, and has never done anything like that.

    • I can only assume that a small child could choke on these if they bite off small pieces. They are a foam-type material, easy to damage or "bite off pieces". I have 5 children and use these. Not to say they wouldn't bite it, but they haven't yet lol!

    • Maybe it's because they could bite pieces off and swallow them. My child is 1 yr and she doesn't even try to do that.

    • I feel like there is no reason it would be a choking hazard. Even if they decided to nibble on one of the prongs that hook the mats together--they would really have to be determined to bite off a small enough piece to choke on. It seems companies just always have to say that these days. :/
