disclosure: we received this kitchen from Step2 as part of their review program I’m a stay at home dad with two sons, 2 ½ years and 3 months old. Assembly: I’ve assembled many toys, including Step2 toys, furniture from Ikea and home items such as closet systems or BBQ grills. The Busy Bake Kitchen assembly took me 20 minutes and was very easy. (It actually took 5 minutes, 5 minutes and then 10 minutes - life with small children.) I made a slight error aligning the “leg” to the main body of the “oven” but it didn’t matter to the final fit or balance. If I had followed the picture instructions, exactly as shown, I would not have made the error. The stickers took me 15 minutes to put onto the kitchen. I’m not so good with carefully placing stickers just right, which is why it took about a minute and a half on average for each sticker. Fortunately, the stickers were strong enough not to tear when I pulled them up to reposition them. Items included: I was pleased with the items included. The build quality is quite good overall. For instance the rolling pin functions like a real rolling pin and items like the egg beater and pie crust cutter were put together with screws and washers. The Busy Bake dough, is comparable to playdough and worked well. I love how the cupcakes come in two pieces, the cake and the frosting, and that the frosting can be snapped on and off. There is even an oven mitt. The only item that disappointed me was the timer, which was too quiet in my opinion. (My wife thought that was a positive.) My son’s reaction: My son is about 2 ½ years old. A bit younger than the recommended age of 3. He took to the kitchen immediately. It helped that he’s played with toy kitchens at friends. Besides his trains, this kitchen is what he plays with most regularly. Primarily he like to make cupcakes, especially when we are cooking dinner. He isn’t quite up to rolling out the dough yet so we have that to look forward to. When he has a friend over, they tend to play “together” with the Bake Shop Kitchen. My fears: There are so many pieces that I was afraid that I’d spend a lot of time cleaning/picking them up. Somehow this has not happened. I think it is because of several reasons. There are lots of hooks, two storage “baskets” and plenty of counter space to place all the pieces. There is even a long ledge below the white board with room enough for the phone and several other items. Bottom line: I was impressed by the quality and the level of detail. Most importantly, my son plays with it every day we are home and hasn’t lost interest after several weeks. It’s a lot of fun but doesn’t take up much space.

I have two little girls (a toddler and a kindergartener). They absolutely LOVE this bake shop! There are lots of great activities to entertain both of them. My older child loves to "bake" cookies with the play-doh and cookie cutters, while my little one sets the timer, spins the oven knobs, answers the phone and puts the cupcakes in the oven. It's not huge (so it doesn't take up a ton of room), but still gives them more than enough room to play. What a great toy!

Absolutely love this ! We had looked at other kitchens for my 3 year old for Christmas and they just couldn't compare to the durability of this one ! I was surprised to see how many accessories this came with. Including a rolling pin, measuring cup and measuring spoons, whisp, plastic cookie cutters, plastic pizza cutter, pot holders, 6 cupcakes and cupcake pan, spatulas, spoons, plates and bowls...everything your little baker needs including a cell phone. It also comes with 4 jars of play-dough, (but I put that up as she has carpet in her room) It was easy to assemble and doesn't take up too much space in her room and the height on this is just perfect for her. Absolutely love it and would highly recommend !

I have 4 and 6 year old girls. My oldest asked for her own "stove" and im not ready to do the easy bake oven for her. They are both way into pretend play so would this work for them?
    by sandraksims3
    • This has an oven but not a stove. It would probably be too small for a 6 year old.

    • My 2 yr old son, 4 year daughter, and 6 year old son use it. If they have great imaginations, they will be fine

    • My 2, 5 and 7 year old girls all love it. They sit together and play for hours with it. I bought it for my 5 year old, but my 7 year old loves it too. They have been making the whole family play dough "treats" everyday.

    • Yes, I think they would love it. My daughter is 8yrs old and she loves playing with this kitchen. Making the pies and different food items with the playdoh is the best part.

    • I have a 3 and 7 year old and both girls love to pretend play. It's kind of small for the my 7 yr old and she wished it made sounds when turning on stove or faucet. They do love playing bakery shop and answers phone "welcome to my bakery store how can I help you" It was to cute. Hope my answer helped your decision.

    • Definitely! The playdough aspect makes it fun. They can use the cookie cutters to make cookies and stick them in the oven to "bake."

    • I think that it would be great for your 4 year old, but your 6 year old may get bored with it unless you are letting her use the play-dough I put the play-dough up because my daughter has all carpet in her room Hope this helps :)
