Great game that's even better then StarCraft 1 it seems. Story is much more immersive then SC1's. The extra stuff you get in the Collector's Edition is well worth the higher price. Especially if you are a fan of StarCraft already. I just wish the game was a little longer. (Although it is quite long already - 30 or so hours for single player).

Like most people who played and loved the original, I was a little concerned that too much would have been changed and the game just wouldn't feel like Starcraft anymore. I am glad to say all those feelings were wrong. Starcraft II does an excellent job of holding on to what made the original so great and it adds some new features that only help to make the game even better. There is an excellent story delivered within the single player campaign and the multiplayer functionality is as good as ever. It is true this is only 1/3 of the entire story focusing solely on the Terran, but you get the full multiplayer experience. There will be two more games that tell the story from the perspective of the other two races. I highly recommend this game for anyone who enjoyed the first game and even if you never tried the original, this game eases you into the real-time strategy genre and is a great starting point. Everyone should give this game a try.

Starcraft 2 : the wings of liberty is the first installment of the 3 part series of "starcraft 2" WoL is a direct sequel to starcraft 1 :brood wars that came out in 2000. though the game is not out yet... many gameplay videos and tech demos have been released... the project is looking good. the three playable races make their return. choose either the balanced Terran, the quantity over quality Zerg, or the quality over quantity Protoss. and wage war in space! picking a race here does not garuntee that the people you meet of your own race fight you. this "wings of liberty" box set has some neat features for the primarily terran player. "James Raynor" dog tags. admittedly i was drawn back when the size of the built in drive was only 2gb, but they come preloaded with starcraft1 and the broodwars expansion, special collectors edditon in-game unlocks are also available, including battle.net avatar pictures and terran unit decals that make your army "more stylized". World of Warcraft players will ennjoy the in-game pet, thor, wich is a new unit at the terran command. What could make this pack even better?? how about a 176 page concept art book, and even a 14 track cd featuring some of the games music!! i don't know... but blizzard got me sold on this one. one happy buyer indeed!! :D

I have been playing non stop for 3-4 weeks now. At first the price of the original game was too much for me ($60) so I played a cracked version. It was so good I felt I had to pay tribute and support employees of Blizzard for making such a fantastic game. I went all out and bought the Collector's Edition! This is my first CE purchase of any game, ever, and since it is the first of a trilogy I figured I can collect all three CE before they go on Ebay and become ridiculously overpriced. I beat the game on Brutal and that took over a week of fun! Afterward I went back for all the Single Player achievements and I'm shy of 10 points for 100% completion. It's almost been a whole month and I haven't even finish Single Player! This is worth more than $100 for the hours of entertainment. Who knows how many hours I will spend on Multi-player? The last StarCraft game lasted 12 years. This is a good investment.

PC gaming has been on what many call it's last legs for years now. However, companies like Blizzard and Valve have single handedly kept PC gaming alive and Blizzard does not disappoint with Starcraft 2. Best RTS of the past decade, hands down and arguably one of the best PC games ever made. Love the story line and while the multiplayer is brutal for noobies, this game is a must have for any fan of the original and any casual or hardcore PC gamer.

  • A. This game does not require any sort of subscription fee, even to play online across Battle.net. However, it does require an internet connection but how you acquire that is entirely up to you.

  • A. Right now Battle.net is free to play. Although the parent company Activision is looking at a monthly fee for your primary account in the future. When they merge all their games to one single account/owner they will charge you a monthly fee for the account and let you play all the games registered to your account with your subscription. Not sure when it will happen. Looks like 2-5 years down the road when more games become online games.

  • A. In order to Play even solo missions, it will require you to have and log into a Battle.net Account. Blizzard has implemented this to keep pirates from making copies and using them to play in Multiplayer and Single. So Yes, you will need to have the Internet to play as well as a Battle.net Account.
