I bought this vacuum for one purpose. To use in my RV while traveling. It is replacing a small handheld "Shark" vacuum that from day one, always ran so hot to the touch, that it was a worry. Well I worry no more. On one camping trip, the shark finally fried itself. The Stanley 1-Gallon vacuum not only performs well, but actually seems to have more suction power than the Shark did. So far, I am very impressed with both power, performance, and ease of emptying the canister. I have not had it long enough to rate how long the unit will last. But as one reviewer said, "for a vacuum not much bigger than a gallon of milk, it is great". Being a shop vacuum, It did not come with a bunch of attachments like a household vacuum would. So I did however, by using various sizes of plastic pipe, fabricated adapters for using the dusting brush & one other attachment I had from another household vacuum I own, to fit on the Stanley suction hose. All together it works great!!!

poor design / exhaust port

Not a single review makes mention that the exhaust port is right next to the hose intake, facing the same direction as the hose. Here is the problem this creates, if you are vacuuming dust, sand, hair or anything lite the exhaust from the vacuum blows it all over making a bigger mess. because the hose is so short, while you are vacuuming the hot exhaust is always blowing on you or in your face.

We purchased this 1 gallon wet/dry shop vac for our motorhome. Tiny home living with a grandson thru the PNW seasons presents numerous challenges!! Space constraints is the most obvious. When we started waking up with so much humidity on our windows that the sills overflowed and dampened - even soaked - things around or under them, we learned something new. Dehumidifier purchase failed to remedy the problem. So we purchased this little sucker to remove the water. It is small enough, light enough to get around to all the windows - even the ones in the boy's cabover loft. The crevice tool had to be duct taped to close off the niche at the end. I wish that Stanley would offer the smaller 1" detail tools. We have had opportunities to use the vac for spilled milk - floor & upholstery!! We have half a dozen other plans for it - removing water from water toys before loading back into cubbies, cleaning car, etc. i wish the cord was longer... And swiveled!! It was not on the shelf at the store, but ordering online & delivery to store is EASY PEASY!!

Bad Design

The good news is it does have a power suction for the price. Now for the rest. The cord is too short, so plan on using an extension cord every time. The hose is too short, so plan on having to hold it, because if you set it down, it is too light to stay upright on its own, so it always falls over and shuts off the suction. Then you have to turn it off and let the suction die down so it will release the internal float valve, so you can turn it back on. Then worst of all, the exhaust is blowing right out the front where the hose is, so it is always blowing the fine dust that slips past the filter of whatever you are vacuuming up in your face.

  • A. Yes that is what I bought it for and it did fine i had to keep dumping it and remember it had a small tank and short hose so lift the hose up after you suck the water so the motor does not have to work any harder then possible. But the answer is yes it worked. I drove into a flood plane on 9/26 in fort Smith,AR. and OMG I had water up to the middle of the doors of my car and the water was inside not full but yes inside and it worked that and after i use it to suck out the water i used that baking soda for carpets to suck up the left over moisture in the carpet then when that dried I used the shop vac. to suck that out of the carpet day after day until the carpet was bond dry and smelled great.

  • A. To a degree yes. A bigger more powerful one would do a better job though but even those will only get so much water out. You then can let it air dry with the windows down.

  • A. to answer your exact question, --- Yes they do make replacement filters for these, and they dont cost much.. After I ordered mine, but before it arrived, I noticed in one of the ads in my Email, that it has bags you can buy. So I wasnt sure if it came with the bags or not.. so i looked again. the pictures for it sometimes show the filter bag in a square plaatic wrap, and the ring seperate, but theyre included. I thought, oh no, I should have probably ordered the extra bags at the same time, but I didn't. Then when mine arrived I noticed the manual shows the filter and the ring as seperate items, theyre supposed to be in the box with the hose and other pieces. But I didnt see the filter or the ring in the box. So I looked inside my wet-vac, and noticed it had both types of filters installed in it already, the foam one and the bag one. I was still kind of disappointed that I didnt buy extra bags though, but i noticed its made of some kind of sturdy thick material of some type. (I dont know what) so maybe you can re-use it a while... My brother told me he had a shop-vac, and he told me not to worry about the bags, because you can keep reusing this bag over and over. The dirt goes into the the tank part, not insude the bag like a vaccuum sweeper does. you can reuse the same filter over and over even if you use it wet and or dry, you dont have to change it. After i used mine for wet pickup, I just emply the plastic tub part and riinse it clean, and let it sit open for a while so it can air out and dry. of course- if it gets all mucky with something - then you might want to replace it, but if its just water or soapy water or dusty dirt you can probably use it over and over for ages. You can use it with just the foam filter, and without the paper (fiberous matierial, whatever it is) but as it blows out air out thru the back vent too, you might want the added filtering to keep it all cleaner.

  • A. There are no bags to replace. This wet/dry vac works it's magic without a bag. Just empty the plastic "tank" from time to time. The tank consists of the entire yellow portion of the vacuum which snaps on and off with the flick of the two side handles.
