    Customer Product Reviews

    Rated 3.9 out of 5★ by 310reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Great gun cabninet I received the shipment ahead of schedule. There was ever so slight damage to the corners of one panel but when I bolted the unit together, the metal flattened back out and now you can't even tell there was damage. The design of the unit was well thought out and assembly only took me about an hour. The instructions were well documented and all the parts were available to complete the assembly. The ambidextrous door hinge is a nice touch. The locking mechanism assembled with ease. I really like how heavy duty the keys are made.My only comments are that it would be nice if the shelf was a bit deeper although the one that is there is sturdy and I also wish they would have provided thicker foam for the bottom of the unit.Overall a great unit. I plan on keeping this for quite a while and also plan on stacking another stack-on unit on top of this one. 02/01/2014
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Good for the price If this thing was more than a hundred bucks or so, I would say it is probably not worth it. Basically it is just a sheet metal gym locker with a small shelf and cheap styrofoam barrel rests. At this price, though, it is a good deal. Don't pay more than a hundred bucks for this thing because you can find a better deal. Those who would order it here will be pleased to know that you are getting at least the same deal as on Amazon and probably better (amazon's price for it keeps jumping around).A few things about the features:SHELF - it is only about four inches deep, so if you were also planning on storing any handguns in this cabinet you won't be putting them on this shelf. There is a simple fix to that, though. I am just going to put in a plywood shelf so I can also keep an ammo can and a handgun in there. On that stock shelf, I imagine you could only really store ammo boxes and clips or maybe a small cleaning kit.DOOR/LOCK - this is one of the strengths of this unit. You can install it to open either direction, it locks in three points, and the lock and mechanism seems to be very sturdy. I had actually expected the lock to be much more flimsy for something this price. I was pleasantly surprised. Keep in mind, though, that this is just a locker and not a safe. If someone has the time and determination to do so, they will be able to break in to this with a simple crowbar. I just got it to keep my daughter away from the guns, and it will serve that purpose well.HARDWARE/FINISH - I guess I was very lucky in this regard. I noticed that other reviewers received their cabinets with dents and scratches, but mine arrived flawless. It is a nice looking cabinet, and even though it is just made of sheet metal it seems to have good structural integrity once it is all assembled. Another nice feature is that the included shoulder bolts which show on the outside are also black so they match the finish of the locker. The bolts and locknuts are of solid quality, and they all tightened down nicely without stripping. They include lag bolts and washers to mount this thing to a floor and/or wall if you so desire. I didn't mount it to a wall, but that might be a nice feature some day. The only thing that really disappointed me about this unit was the styrofoam barrel rests. They are just cheap foam with double-sided tape on the back and I can't see them lasting for more than a couple of years before that tape dries out and they fall off, or before the foam dries out and falls apart. At that point I guess I will figure out some way to replace them, but they are just disappointing compared to the good quality of the rest of the cabinet.ASSEMBLY - I didn't time how long it took me to put it together, but it was probably somewhere around 30 to 45 minutes. The directions are very clear, and I even followed the step which said to remove the key from the lock before attaching the locking bars. I didn't have the problem that others mentioned of the lock falling apart, so I suspect that they improved the lock design. One piece of advice I would offer is to use a socket set instead of the wrenches that the directions suggest. If you tried to use a regular wrench to tighten all the locknuts on this thing, it would take hours.Overall I give this cabinet four stars instead of the five because of the cheap foam barrel rests. It is a sturdy and good looking cabinet otherwise, and it will do the job that I got it for: keeping my daughter away from the guns. 03/21/2012
Rated 1 out of 5★ by DO NOT BUY!!!!! First of all it came without any intructions. I did manage to put it together but when I went to install the lock, the entire locking mechanism was missing. I didn't expect much for $90 but I kinda wanted it to lock. 07/23/2012
Rated 2 out of 5★ by Ugh! The product came in earlier than expected (site to store), however, when it was brought out you could see that one end of the box was missing. Without opening the package, you could tell some of the parts were bent. I took it home and took it out of the box: The parts you could not see were even worse. I returned the package to my local Wal-Mart and it was a no hazzle experience. 11/27/2011
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Good for what it is This is a sturdy cabinet. Good looking place to store weapons. It is somewhat secure, but isn't a safe. So don't expect that from it. It does lock and can be bolted down which makes it very hard to get into or move. All in all, very good value for the money. I am very pleased with mine. 03/26/2012
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Does what it needs to, and that's about it. I bought this product to keep small hands from the guns. It serves that purpose perfectly. Obviously this cabinet won't keep someone out that really wanted to get in, with enough tool prying I can see it being opened. As far as shipping goes, there were a few slightly bent corners, but nothing that couldn't be unbent. As expected for a low gauge metal. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the price, and ability to secure guns from the little ones. I will be modifying the foam racks on the inside with something more firm, although they do work as needed as they are. 02/22/2014
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Got this cabinet for my husbands birthday and love's it. It was easy to put together. Metal not as thick so can be bent easly but for the price not bad. Has a very good lock and like it has optional area for more stack on cabinets to be added later. 09/29/2011
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Agreed, Very Good for the Price I read about 20 reviews before purchasing here. Walmart has a lower price than Amazon by about $10. The shipping was awesome at exactly 2.5 days from time of "click" to on my doorstep! There are some Youtube videos of people who have carpeted/accessorized this product you should search for. I plan on modifying mine to prevent scratches too.I would have rated this product a 5 if not for the pathetic foam barrel rests and worthless bottom padding. You, unless you own 8 bb guns, will want to protect your investment by buying carpet tape and a $10 piece of cheap carpet from Lowe's to line the thing.I also found that those "motion sensor" lights people buy for this have had so-so reviews so I took some time and found a magnetic energizer tap light that is great, and cheap, for this cabinet. It's like a rubberized hockey puck on Amazon for about $10 and sticks very securely to the ceiling of this.Did it come bent and messed up like some people said? Yes, but a quick mallet cured the corners and it assembled easily nonetheless. Some Youtube videos showed this cabinet as "easy to break into" by people who lost their keys and had the thing lying on its side and they had a crowbar etc. ready to go to break into it, unlike a random thief may carry. I bolted mine to the wall studs in my closet with all 6 of the available bolt-holes (they only provide 4 screws with this, so buy 2 more good, long ones), and, trust me, you will give a burglar a real workout with or without a crowbar to try to get this sucker off the wall before they can try to get into it.Finally, the "8" gun cabinet is really only good for half that, which is what I expected. I have a 10/22 with a scope, an AR with a scope, a tactical shotgun with a reflex sight, and an MP5 that is pretty short. None of these guns fit with the junky foam barrel rests that come with it because of the optics. I will need to fabricate and pad barrel rests for them myself. Still, $92 plus some modifications is better than paying too much for a necessity like this. Also, as other reviews stated, ammo storage on the top shelf is not good enough for an average target-shooter/home defense customer like myself. I'm going to house 4 guns on one side and build a ladder-shaped ammo storage area on the other side.Overall, you will be very pleased with this product, but be planning on how to modify it for your collection's needs. 10/27/2013
