My son is 5 and he loves it, he can play by himself also. My daughter is 15 and she likes it too. We got her to help our son at first and she likes playing it also, but our son can play by himself without her help.

MY son is 10; however, I believe it would be a great purchase for kids age 6 and up. They are so advanced these days!

I believe the box recommends from age 6 up.

My kids ages 5, 8, and 11 all like it and can play it. The 8 and 11 year olds run the controls and the 5 year old watches alot of the time, but I do make them take turns and the 5 year old can easily manage the characters we have when he can get a turn! I know adults who enjoy this game too.

My grandson's age is 4 years and masters the system very well. He progresses several levels with ease.

My son has played his game about 20-25 hours so far and we are still on the first set of batteries. Maybe you should contact vendor and see if it is a short of some kind.

limit the time you allow your child to be in front of the tv playing the game... it will help reduce the need for contiual changing of batteries.

Rechargable batteries and also means you're playing too much.

Buy the rechargeable batteries, that's what we did and it's helped a lot.

We have used it a lot over the last couple weeks or so, and I don't think we've replaced the batteries yet. We are just using the average duracell.

It should last longer than 2 hours. Must be defective. Take it back & exchange it

My kids are loving this came but its costing me a fortune in batteries is anyone else seeing that the portal runs through batteries?

Yes. I haven't yet purchased this game, but have been reading up on reviews and according to them, this kit comes with everything to start right up-game, characters, and base. Keep in mind that it only comes with 3 characters and while you can complete the game with them, the idea is you'll want to buy the other characters to do more of the game parts. At about $8 each character, and according to one review I read 32 characters, that could run big bucks. I plan on buying it, but my kids are going to know if they want extra characters, they will have to save their $ and buy them themselves.

yes, just don't forget that the wireless SUB chip is in the battery compartment of the base unit . Very easy to set up and play.

The game has everything you need to begin playing

Yes it does. It comes with 3 characters and the portal. When you take it out of the box, open the back of the portal to add the batteries and inside there is a USB chip that you need to remove. This chip goes in the back of the Wii to sync the portal with that Wii. Happy gaming!

Yes. We have a wii with controllers and nunchucks, and the starter pack worked right out of the box. (Although I don't remember if they had to put batteries in the portal or if they came with.)

Does the Skylander starter pack for Wii have everything needed to play right out of the box?

"Santa" got the Skylanders Starter Pack for my 7-year-old son for Christmas along with some of the other Skylanders figures. He would spend literally HOURS playing that game if I let him. If you have different figures, they can change the person they are playing on and get a new person with new powers. It's fun to see that he really enjoys this gift. Sometimes we moms get things right and this was one of those times for sure!

This is a wonderful game for younger gamers!

This game is awesome! We bought this for them for Christmas. My boys (ages 7 and 10) have not gotten bored with it yet! The ability to change out the characters mid-game and earn upgrades is great for them. There are also expansion packs and extra characters you can purchase. My husband says that you can take your character to any other portal and it carries it's upgrades with it. Like it has a memory chip or something.

They play it daily...like that you can change the characters whenever you want ....

Awesome game

Awesome game! We love how our 7-year-old son can take the toys and put them on the little portal and see that toy come to life on the screen! This is such a great concept for kids! Around here, Skylanders is the HOT game for Christmas and getting harder to find at the stores, so we're very excited to be able to have this under the tree for our guy. He's played it at his friends' houses and they all love it. I like that his progress saves on his little dragon toy and then all he has to do is take that toy with him and he can play using anyone's portal and all of his stats are saved on the dragon. This is also packaged beautifully, very eye-catching. It's going to be the big hit of Christmas here in my home! Can't wait!

What a wonderful game!

My 8 year old requested this game for Christmas, and I was able to get it at a lower price then initially advertised because of Walmart's price match; only costed me $59! And although the starter kit comes with 3 figures, my son is now telling me that he needs a figure from each group to beat certain areas of the game. Although you get 3 figures (1 from 3 differ groups) there are an additional 5 groups to purchase from.

Value for your money

This game is great family fun...but be worned, you can't buy just the starter set. You need to keep buying the figures and that is apart of the fun. Luckly Walmart has them for a decent price. Don't pay more than $8 for them... buy them when you find a great deal and as many as you can. You can give them one at a time...but if you wait to buy more later you may not find the figures anywhere. My nephew 4+ and daughter 5+ both have the game and they talk on the phone to each other about what level they are on and what figure is the best. I love playing it with them too, but you can only have two players at a time. Enjoy!!

I Wish I had thought of it!

My little girl thinks it is fun, adventurous and she likes the challenges. She also likes how you can get upgrades. The little figures are cool.

The original game had a defective battery compartment. True to Walmarts reputation, it was quickly and easily replaced in the nearest store. The grandkids (5 year olds) and their dad love playing it. They have already purchased additional players.

It is amazing what they can do with modern technology. Excellent WII game!

My grandson & I love it!

The game was for our granddaughters. I tracked it because the girls were anxious to play. It sat in California for four days and you only beat the latest date of delivery by one day. Everything else was business as usual. Delivery time was unusually slow. Other internet purchases with other businesses are immediate with delivery and I can appreciate that.

I would recommend this to a friend, used. This is really a let down. My boys (6 and 8) defeated Kaos in less than a week. They want more characters, but for what?! Not much fun in going back and cleaning up after yourself. There are only a couple of extra levels to purchase. I expected more from such a big debut. Perhaps a Skylanders II in the Summer. Hopefully it will be more difficult or have more chapters.
