If you are tierd of paying the high prices for rid or nix this product is a good way of killing head lice it works like rid and nix you put it in your hair and let it sit for about 30mins then shampoo it out then comb the hair like you would with nix or rid.

My daughter came home from school with an itchy head and so it started... I used Nix on the entire family and everyone but myself was fine.. go figure ;) so I looked into some other options and came across this tea tree oil. I treated my head as soon as I got it and all I can say is THANK GOD! It really works!! It leaves your hair feeling nice and smooth as well. It also works great as a preventative, take 4 table spoons of this tea tree oil and 8oz of water mix together, get a spritzer bottle and shake well. Make sure you start at your scalp and work your way out. If using it to treat for lice make sure you have a shower cap and cover your head for 20 mins, rinse hair and use a comb to get all those little nastys out. (It does have a very unpleasant smell, but once your hair dries it fades away). Good luck!

This is a wonderful product! We always have it on hand for it's numerous & varied uses. You only have to use a very small amount for even the largest of needs. It used to be cheaper to buy, but it is well worth the price for this product--because you need so little of it for treatment (except where they tell you on the label not to), it is cost effective.

When you open the bottle, is there a dropper built in so that the oil comes out drop by drop? I attached an image from another brand and want to make sure this will have the same thing.

    • no. This does not have a built in dropper.

    • This brand didn't the last time I bought it. Not sure what it would do to a rubber bulb anyway. So if you have a dropper left over from another bottle with the same threads, you could try, and report back if the bulb melted.

    • John2037, This particular 100% Pure Tea Tree Oil bottle does NOT include a built-in dropper. Busy Bee, a local hobbist & craft shop was our source for perfectly-fitting lids with droppers for these bottles at a Dec. 2012 price of only $0.39USD each. Hopefully, this fully answered your question.

    • No, I have this product and it doesn't come with a dropper. None of them do for this brand, you have to either buy one, use Q-tips or cotton balls.

    • Unfortunately, there's NO DROPPER INCLUDED in this bottle of Spring Valley Pharmaceutical Grade Tea Tree Oil. But might I suggest you do a search for "Flents: Eye & Ear Medicine Droppers, 2 Ct," on the Wal-Mart website, because Spring Valley Pharmaceutical Grade Tea Tree is certainly worth the money, dropper or not. The only thing is it doesn't come with a dropper and other people have asked about that as well. So, I hope this response helps everyone. :)

    • 100% Pure Tea Tree Oil is one of the many ways people have sought to obtain relief from insect bites over the centuries. Many sites across Internet display anecdotal reports and scientific studies citing the positive results from daubing a drop of it on a square, swab, or ball of cotton against an insect bite. The natural anti-viral, anti-fungal & other properties of 100% Pure Natural Tea Tree Oil are said to serve in avoiding complications from the insect bite, or from contaminating the bite through scratching, etc. Hopefully, this helps you in your quest to treat insect bites effectively.

    • I would assume it would be ok to use on insect bites only because this oil is really good for the skin. However, if your skin is sensitive to this, you must stop use immediately. To test this product to see if your skin is not sensitive, try using a dab mixed with almond or olive oil on your wrist and see what the reaction is. If there is none, you can use it. If there is one, then I would suggest to find something else to use.

    • Yes, but remember that the primary function of Tea Tree Oil is to dry up wounds and weepy skin conditions, and to act as a light-duty antiseptic and anti-fungal. There are no anti-inflammatory or anti-itch benefits.

I'd like to know if this product works for disinfecting exercise equipment, or if you could recommend a different product. Thank you!

    • Tea tree oil is a natural anti-fungal and it is a very light oil and easily absorbed in the skin but it comes with a very strong scent. This brand is only 80% tea tree oil and one of the other ingredients in this brand is turpentine... If you have ever smelled Absorbine Jr then you will have just begun to understand what I mean...

    • For disinfecting equipment, I would recommend using a different product only because this product is used mainly for the skin.

    • This is too expensive to disinfect exercise equipment. This oil is to disinfect scratches and small wounds. It does not sting like iodine. Use Lysol, lemon juice, clorox.

    • It's not a very practical application, since Tea Tree Oil; although worth it, is much more expensive no a days than it used to be. So, I would definitely recommend an alternative. That being two or three alternatives actually, depending on your need or contamination concerns. So, maybe try those disinfectant wipes sold by Lysol or Clorox for quick clean-ups for less mess. Either that or you might try diluting Lysol 4 In 1 Disinfectant All Purpose Cleaner, Lemon Breeze, 40 fl oz or Lysol: All Purpose Cleaner - Pour 4 In 1 Disinfectant Orange Breeze Scent, 40 Fl Oz, with water, and put those mixed together into a spray bottle, for an even more cost effective solution than the wipes, because those can get costly too. Listen, I’m always having to sanitize things in the cosmetology industry, and we try to find the least expensive solution available too. So, I've used Lysol 4-1 for years and it kills virtually everything (99.9%), even the dreaded new H1N1 or Swine Flu. So, I would definitely recommend the Lysol 4 In 1 - and wouldn't you know it it's sold at Wal-Mart too, as I hope it will continue to be for years to come, now that I've endorsed this product and them for selling it. :P hehe :)
