Rated 5 out of 5★ by Excellent Portable Crate for Crate-Trained Dog This nylon pop-open dog crate was a replacement for one that had worn out, only it was a much-needed size larger. It was perfect for my large male German Shepherd Dog to stay with me in a hotel room. I didn't have to drag a big plastic crate into the room for a change. It's only suited for a dog that is already trained to respect the boundaries of a crate, which he is. I would never leave a dog alone in a room in one of these, however, as it would be beyond the scope of its use.The great price for the convenience of simply being able to pop open a crate with one hand while holding my dog with the other, as well as being able to store it under my car seat, makes it an excellent value! I like it so well that I will be purchasing another one for my other dog. Finally, the instructions for how to get it folded back up into its original tiny round shape are easy enough for the first-time user to understand. 01/14/2013
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Pop-Open Kennel for Small Pets Having just moved from N.Y. to California, we left behind all of our hard carriers in favor of a rather small "carry" bag that the airlines would allow. However, our sweet cat of 17 years has never been a great traveler - even for the shortest of trips in the car - and every time we have moved her around in the small carrier her distress level was clearly quite high. We then set out on a mission to find a pet carrier that would provide more room and thus comfort for out pet. It needed to be compact yet provide adequate space for our girl to stand up, move around and see us for reassurance. This "SportPet Pop-Open Kennel" was just the ticket. It's quick twist method for opening to the full size is terrific and yet, when fully open, our kitty loves to go inside and settle in it. It fits easily in the back seat of our compact car and has now made traveling with our girl stress free. We highly recommend this product. 07/25/2010
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Great convenient "grab and go" carrier We live in Oklahoma where trips to the storm cellar happen almost every spring. A outbreak of tornados across the state last night caused another trip to the cellar and reminded me again of just how very helpful these carriers are.We have 5 cats (ridiculous but that's another story...) We've used two of these carriers plus a hard-sided one. Our 22-lb. big boy cat goes into the hard-sided carrier while two of the smaller cats go together in each of these two carriers, then the carriers go over our shoulders as we haul out for the shelter in the back yard. Amidst the hard rain and beginning hail last night as we made our way to the shelter, the hard-sided carrier slipped out of my son's grasp, fell and cracked open. Not badly enough that the cat got out, thank goodness, but the area where the handle connected to the body broke and he had to carry it the rest of the way in his arms like a football plus juggle his flashlight and a couple other items he was carrying. Pretty stressful under the circumstances. So I'm online today to pick up a 3rd one of these that will be for our big cat for next time. These carriers fold away flat. They are very light but durable with strong zippers and nice mesh windows. They have both regular handles and shoulder straps, which is a blessing when you're in a hurry. We've used these carriers for 4 or 5 years now and have probably have made 7-10 trips to the cellar with each carrier loaded up with two cats (around 20-25 pounds total weight per carrier) slung over a shoulder. We're usually running at the time, which has to cause additional wear and tear on the carriers, yet so far I haven't found any signs of stress or strain at the seams or in the material anywhere, not even where the shoulder straps attach. I had been using the hard-sided carrier for trips to the vet and so forth, but will just go with these from now on.Can't say enough about the convenience factor with these carriers. They get high marks for being lightweight, sturdy, and very functional. A great product. 05/25/2011
Rated 5 out of 5★ by I LOVE IT! I have been looking for a inexpensive but practical crate for months for my now 9 month old puppy Ziggy and couldn't find any. I was at walmart one day and decided to have a look at their crates and saw the one pictured only in blue and was very skeptical at first because puppy claws and fabric doesn't usually mix well. But I bought it anyway and brought it home it was setup in maybe 5 seconds. I slowly introduced him to his new "den" and started closing the zip up door which I love since it doesn't get stuck like the slide and lock doors. He does scratch at the door when I forget his toy outside the door but he hasn't been able to put in a rip in it. I love this and would recommend it to anyone who asks. 07/06/2008
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Finally I had purchased a number of crates for my Rat Terrier but could not find one just the right size for taking him in the car. I was beginning to feel like Goldilocks....they were either too small or too large, until I got this one.....it was absolutely perfect. I would only recommend it for dogs that are used to being in a crate, as it is only nylon and could be torn if scratched for a time by a pooch with long nails.I find it a great item and the perfect solution for my problem! It fits perfectly on my mini-van's rear captain seats. 10/28/2007
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Great price, incredibly convenient, safe, durable This crate is amazing. I got the medium size for my poodle mix who is about 22 pounds and it's the perfect size. What I love about it is that it does that it pops up and then folds down into a circle that's small and light enough that I can fit it in my purse! It's also got these two loops that you can put a seatbelt through, so I ditched my doggie seatbelt and now my dog always rides in this crate and loves it. It's much faster and more convenient than a doggie seatbelt. One time I had to slam on my brakes when my dog was inside the crate, and because it's soft sided and buckled in, he was fine; he literally bounced back! If he were in his hard plastic crate, he would have slammed against its hard wall and the crate would have slid around. In short, not only is this crate convenient, it's also much safer than a normal plastic or wire crate in the car.The only thing about this crate is that if you have a very smart dog like ours, he might figure how to dig at the zipper in just the right way, open it up, and get out. In that case, make sure you leave the zipper in a place your dog can't dig at it or find a way to tie the zipper closed. Also beware that this is not a daily use crate. This is made for the car and away from home. Even so, at this crazy price, this crate so worth it! The expression "you get what you pay for" doesn't apply here. I bought a much more expensive fabric collapsable crate a few years ago for almost $100 that I hated. I've had this one for over a year now and I still love it. 08/30/2009

Rated 3 out of 5★ by Great, until I bought this for my son's surprise Christmas present (a 12-week-old kitten). I love the fact that, on both sides, are straps through which a seat belt (back seat) can be threaded through for travel. My intent was for them to have a place to put her when they both had to work (the rare occasion). She spent Christmas Eve with us. While I was sewing and to protect her from our nose-out-of-joint cats, I kept her in it. This is the only thing wrong -- it is not weighted, I am sure this is so it can be so flexible -- when she got restless, she began to roll, yes roll, all over the living room in the carrier. He may need to get her a more solid carrier for home, but I do like the car safety feature of this model. It is possible to have the zippered opening toward the door and take her out of the carrier and leaving it in the car if need be. 12/27/2011
