Great shelf I've had metal type shelves before and the metal bent under the load of soup cans and other normal food supplies. the 500 series with wooden shelves are simply the best. as far as assembly goes, if you ever had to screw togeather metal units, you will be very happy to put one of these togeather. it helps to have an assistant and a good soft face hammer to start. then it just seems to fall togeather. going to replace all of my older metal shelves with this type. 09/18/2011
I love these shelves. The are inexpensive, easy to put up and last a long time. I've had mine for about 5 years and they have been taken down and put back up several times. They hold up well too as we've had a lot of books on the shelves and didn't have any problems. We do screw the unit to the wall for safety and it adds to the stability. I am going to go buy two more tomorrow and was happy to see that they still sell them. 08/17/2011

Did not meet my expectations I purchased this unit expecting it to be sturdy an easy to assemble. However, I found it to be very flimsy and had very sharp edges. There is a warning on the box about the sharp edges but there should be instructions to use gloves while assembling. Some of the slots were not wide enough for the prongs to slide into easily and you will have to make them wider. I returned the shelves, based on these problems. 08/01/2011
