I was a little worried when I bought this online never having seen it in person. It took awhile to assemble but once finished it is a very solid dresser and should last a long time. It also looks great and you can't tell that it was that cheap. Great value! Im already thinking of buying another or the nightstand that goes with it. I put it together myself but it did take about three hours

I ordered this dresser for my 6 year old knowing that this was the cheapest dresser i could find and knowing that it probably would not be great quality. After reading some reviews on this particular collection i was not sure if i should get them, but then figured my 6 yr old would tear up whatever i got him anyway so i should get the cheapest. I put the dresser together in about an hour, there are a lot of parts, but easy to assemble. The dresser turned out really great actually and i'm very happy taht i purchased it. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

I ordered this dresser for my new little one who'll be here in March. I ended up getting it on sale (score!) a few weeks ago. I finally got around to putting it together and I must say, I am pleasantly surprised. Yes, it took a LONG time to put together, but I'm also 8.5 months pregnant, so that may have made a difference. I didn't find the instructions difficult to follow, but I'm used to putting furniture together. I had no problems getting my drawers to slide in and once put together and in my room, it looks great! I'm convinced that the folks with negative reviews just got a bad product and that's unfortunate. It really is solid. I don't forsee this coming apart any time soon. In fact, I'm probably going to get one for my daughter's room too. I highly recommend this dresser.

Thanks for the response in regard to the particle board. I should've elaborated further on my question. If they're made of thin [particle] board, how are the drawer bottoms attached to the front & back of the drawer? For instance, my current drawers are not only particle board, but they merely slide into the front and back about a half-inch, so if there's too much weight (aka a full drawer) the bottoms often slide out from the indented space and fall into the next drawer below (very frustrating). Has anyone experienced this while using the South Shore 4 drawer chest? I just want to know it'll stay in tact before I purchase it. I've attached an image of what I'm referring to to be more clear. Thanks again

    • The drawer bottoms are nailed to the drawer it slides into, so for each of the four drawers you slide the particle board into slots on the bottom then use I think it was 12 nails to nail it in. So far we've had no problem and our drawers are stuffed. Hope that helps.

    • The particle board bottom slides into a groove on the front and sides of the drawer, The backside of the bottom of the drawer doesn't have a groove but it comes with with 6 nails for each drawer to attach the backside in place so the drawers don't sag.

    • theres grooves it sits in on the inside of the drawer frame. how ever discarding that measuring the drawers entire bottom and replacing it with the same thickness but of Plywood not particle board will add a 1/2 inch depth and make the drawers sturdy. check my review of the product for full details.
