    Boom Boom

I bought this to replace my DHD 12 which blew up. I run it in a single sealed enclosure and it pounds! So much infact that, I had to turn down my 500 watt Alpine amp, power and bass levels. With my amp turned down it will still almost drown out my 4 alpine 6x8s at half volume! BUY IT.

    great sub for rock music

    Customer review by unseenme

    5.0 stars by unseenme

I listen to mostly rock music...Korn, Linkin Park, Slipknot, FFDP, etc. This sub is the absolute best at the punchy kick drum sound from rock music. It's deep, punchy, clean & distortion free. My previous sub was a Rockford Fosgate Power 12 in a ported box and this sub has just as good sound & detail as the Fosgate. I'm pushing it with an MTX TC4004 bridged at 200w (may be more due to a deck with 5v output & a parametric EQ with 8v output) & it holds its own with no bottom out whatsoever. A great sub that I highly recommend if you listen to punchy rock music.

Stupendous value and sound beats the competition

    Customer review by DubKing

    5.0 stars by DubKing

I've literally tested a dozen Kicker and Polk and Alpine subs over the last month so I can say without a doubt the Xplod is the very best. Calling it 'entry level' is such a terrible disservice. This is a performance subwoofer and also a tremendous value. Easily outclasses Kicker CompVR which is almost twice the price. Definitely higher sound quality than Alpine or Polk or Kicker! These might be the most under-rated speakers in the world. Serious boom, even the specs are wrong because these will easily do 20hz, and they only claim 30hz. Sony should really brag more because they have the competitions crushed and nobody knows it because the price is so great it seems like no way these are actually the best... but they are!

    • Get one Sony Xplod GTX XM GTX1821 Amp and it'll do okay if you're not expecting to drive the sub's loud enough to hear coming down the road. But get two Sony Xplod GTX XM GTX1821 Amp's (one for each 12" Sub) if you want some excitement.

    • they are rated at 350RMS a piece, so ur looking to find a amp that will push 700-800RMS @4 ohm. if its a 4 channel bridged it should be a rating of 350-400rms @4ohm x2. Look for the same in a 2 channel amp (unbridged) Remember not all amps are bridgeable so make sure u check that aswell. On the otherhand if you get a mono block amp then ur going to drop the impedance to 2ohm and u want a 700-800RMS at 2ohm. Hope u find what ur looking for!

    • Your amp should match the speaker's peak wattage so a 1,000 watt amp would be ideal.

    • I would go with around a 450-500rms amp at a stable 2ohms if u have two xplods 4ohms each, from personally owning same sub id not go by the rating id go with about 250rms each clean power, kicker, jbl, alpine but check out the fuses on amp u buy if u truely have a good 500rms amp should be about 60amps of fuse at least

    • Well, I can tell you I push 500 watts to 1 of these and have had to turn down all of my inputs considerably. I could probably push 500 watts rms to two of these subs, and be more than happy! Depends on your amp, go ask a few questions at a local stereo shop, I run an Alpine amp.

    • i have a 1000 watt amp hook to my 2 sobwoofers and it sounds very good but a 2000 watt amp would be fine the 1000 watt subwoofer is its peak power its real watt power is 350 to 460 watts so a 1000 watt amp is all you need

    • For amplifier matching the short-term maximum power is 1,200 Watts, the rated power is 350 Watts and the CEA 2031 RMS power is 470 Watts. The rated impedance is 4Ω.
