Sony Walkman 8GB MP3 Video Player w/ Speakers, NWZ-S544, Black 4.5 5 355 437
perfect for 13yr old boy I bought this mp3 for my son as a birthday gift and he loved it. It works with windows and you don't have to convert any songs or files over to anything its just plug and play, kinda hard to beat that ! the headphones are loud and if you follow the battery saving instructions it lasts for a long time. im gonna get myself one in the next few months. 11/01/2009
My son LOVES the Sony Walkman. Less expensive then the iPod nano I was considering for him - and the screen is large enough to view DVDs and Cartoons we have uploaded for him. Another feature that he loves (and the parents at times do NOT like) is that you have the ability to unplug the earphones/headset and play thru the speakers - a plus over the iPod. My recommendation - make sure you purchase the clear protective cover - scratches very easily in the hands of a child. Overall rating - very pleased with the purchase! 01/07/2010
Really Solid Alternative To The iPod When I still had this walkman player I enjoyed it very much. When it comes down to it the most important part is sound quality, and sony doesn't skimp on this product. You have the ability to create customize equalizer presets so you can dynamically alter the sound of your music to match your tastes and preferences. The movement between songs are very smooth and no gap of silence is between songs which gives you a nice listening experience. Unlike the Sony Walkman E series, there is no noticeable issues with the volume as the volume is nice, loud, and clear with no distortion. The speaker quality is also very nice. Obviously some quality is lost when using the speakers over traditional headphones (like bass for instance) but it still comes out very clean. The only other problem ill have to say about the speaker is that it is not as loud as you would expect, for instance its not as loud as your phone on full ring-tone volume. The company claims 42 hours of battery life but I've experience at least half of that time even on the lowest screen brightness. Videos and pictures comes out very nice and clear, but i would only recommend looking at them with the screen on the highest brightness because then you witness the most detail and clarity. It even comes with a useful stand to hold the walkman up when looking at videos, pictures, or just listening with the speaker. Also with the speaker alarm capabilities and auto sleep listening (in increments of 30-60-90 minute cutoffs). The recording is rather poor in my personal opinion but I personally don't like any recording from portable mp3 players. With that being said, this is a very sexy device. The sleek body with the black finish look great...only if you take care of it. I found out that very little cosmetic damages on the device stay on for a long while. I would definitely recommend screen protectors because the screen is scratched very easily. On terms of placing music on the device you may have varied problems. Windows SP2 or higher is strongly recommended unless you want to drag and drop everything for every piece of music you have. It suggests that you use windows media player, but I've constantly have issues with windows media player on syncing and overall design of the software. I personally use media monkey when syncing with the walkman because it is overall simpler. This player also has a slight problem with large libraries or playlists. It's a very minor grip but it may take an extra 2 or 3 seconds to load up a large library or a large amount of playlists (1300 songs in library, about 20 Playlists). The radio is alright, I can't complain. Overall great listening experience. The player places all items in a playlist (when you hit all for example) and remembers all the tracks you've listened to previously so you don't have to skip those tracks or re-listen to them. Great product and size may be an issue (I was only able to place about 1300 songs with no videos and photos) and If I can afford a new 16GB model (my 8 Gb got stolen) I would highly recommend it to anyone. 10/26/2010
Very happy So far I love my MP3 player. I have near 700 songs on it and plenty of room for more. I have struggled with putting videos/movies on it, but i am not very good with computers, so i am going to get someone to help me with it. It is very good when running and i love that the shuffle mode still goes through every song before you hear one twice. I also love the stereo speakers and use it a lot in the house. I would definitley recommend this product. 01/27/2010
