My only complaint is the picture quality is not as good when you connect the HDMI from your Blu-Ray to Sony's Sound Bar System vs connect the Blu-ray directly to your HDTV 1080P LCD. When I connected the optical digital audio cable and reconfigured my Blu Ray to Audiophile Bitstream inside the menu I began outputting 5.1 DTS vs 2.0 channel. Hope to see Sony upgrade the hardware to output a true 1080P quality picture.

Very Good Flat Screen TV Speakers

The Sony HT-CT100 Sound Bar speaker system is everything it was advertised to be. Excellent sound, separate powered woofer, easy to set up, and unobtrusive in the bedroom. If you are looking for "surround sound" systems, this is not for you. But, if you would like to enhance the typically poor sound inherent with flat panel (LCD and/or plasma TV's) TV's due to their very small packaging, this system will certainly fill the bill. One hint -- the remote sensor is located in the sound bar; not in the separate powered woofer as you might assume. When using included remote control, aim at sound bar - not woofer. Also, you will need two extra HDMI cables - not included.

Don't be scared, it IS good

Reading the reviews told me everything I needed to know. Almost. I knew it had the HDMI ports that I needed. I new that it would solve the cord problem for me. I knew where to point the remote. But I was still scared. Would it be loud enough? In short, yes, its perfectly loud enough. I'll start off by saying I'm one of those people that has trouble hearing, even though I'm only 24. I always have to turn things up louder than other people just to be able to hear and understand them, and I watch most movies with subtitles on. So its no surprise that I was worried after reading all these reviews that I wasn't going to be able to live with the volume. That is not the case at all. If you have a small to medium sized room, this thing will be MORE than loud enough. My living room is only 12x15 and I was finding myself turning down the volume at times. I never got past 30 before I was perfectly satisfied (i did have to turn the sub down to -6 though). The HT-CT100 is a clear upgrade to my sharp aquos 52" speakers, it's like night and day. Dialog is much sharper (no more subtitles for me, yay!) and the sub adds a nice bit of depth. The price was cheper than listed on the web when i got to the store, and everything in the box was in perfect order. If you are like me, stop fretting about the sound level and just get the thing already. You won't be disappointed.

Great Sound in a small package

I wanted a speaker system which performed well and was discreet. I didn't want to have to deal with putting up 3 speakers on my entertainment center and then run 2 sets of wires around the back of the room. The soundbar meets both those requirements. The speaker bar sits right below the TV and looks great- just one speaker wire needed. The sound is great. Of course you don't have sound coming from behind you like a 5.1 system, but the sound is great. I also like the fact that a "reciever" is built in to the subwoofer so you don't need to take up more space on the entertaiment center with another unit. I run all my components to the TV and then use an optical wire from the TV to this speaker system. That way my son doesn't have to have the sound system on to watch the Backyardigans in the morning. Set up was as easy as plugging in the power cord and single optical wire. The wire it comes with is real thin and cheap feeling. I had already purchased another one and am using it.

I read every single one of the reviews on here and at CNet before I made the decision to purchase this product. And just like everyone else, I wanted something without all the wires and with HDMI inputs and output for my 47inch Flat Panel, cable box, BluRay, and AppleTV. I was a little skeptical at first whether the equipment would be loud enough for my taste. I am a 27 years old that likes to watch a lot of movies and listen to my music at a very loud volume. Most of the negative feedbacks on the review are people saying that this equipment isn't loud enough or that they aren't technological savvy enough to hook it up. I have to tell you that this product is phenomenon. Even though it is not a true surround sound system, but when you have a program on that is in HD, it gives a 5.1 simulated sorround sound. Everything else not in HD will be a 2.0. Also the sound level for the bar and the subwoofer is preset to "0". So when you first intalled it, it will seem like it is putting out thesame sound as your TV. But then crank the decibel up for the sound bar and the sub woofer and you will be blown away. The max decibel output for both units are +6. I recommend putting the decibel for the sound bar at a +6 and the sub woofer at a +4 so the bass would not overwhelm the treble sound coming from the bar and this will give the sound a really loud crisp sound with enough bass. And bottom line, you have to use a HDMI connections for all your audio inputs to really unleash its true powers (meaning get a HD cable box or a BluRay player). This equipment is only as good as its weakest link. So if you use a RCA connection, you will get an RCA sound quality. That is all folks...

The amount and quality of sound you get for your money with this system is amazing. The sound-bar sits on top of my TV stand perfectly. If you don't want to hassle with rear speakers and want a system with three HDMI inputs, this is your system.

Pros - simple setup, reduced cable clutter Cons - Sound (especially voice) is a little weak, Occasionally tv to soundbar interface locks up. This was a solution I had been looking into for over a year. I had a good JVC home theater system and a 37" hd LCD. However the cable clutter and having speakers everywhere was just ugly. All the other sound bar systems I looked at started at $700. When Walmart got this one in on their website I couldn't believe the low price $300. It looks great , cables all hideaway nicely. And I now only have 3 hdmi cables and 1 soundbar cable in entertainment center. However even with trying multiple setting changes, I am having trouble hearing voices clearly. Of course I am supposed to wear hearing aids (but am lazy). The surround sound isn't to par with my old JVC system - but I don't have speakers all around the room either. So it was a good purchase for me - and wife happy with the clean look , and no more speakers sticking out everywhere.

We wanted to eliminate the wires running all over for our home theater system. I was not looking forward to the work necessary to relocate them in the walls. A sound bar seemed like a good solution. Ordered the sony after some online research. It arrived promptly and undamaged. Read the manual. It is really focused on connecting the sony to other sony components and provides no information on using it with other brands. Hooked up the TV (Samsung) to the sony per the manual and it worked perfectly. Hooked up the DVD player and Roku to the sony per the manual. Neither would function properly. Ended up hooking them up directly to the tv and using the tv to select them. This works perfectly. The audio from the sony while not as good as our original system is realistic and met our expectations. The product appearance is very good and it takes up little space. We have used it for 2 weeks and the audio for sports, tv shows and movies is just fine. We are very satisfied with this product for the price we paid.

This sound system is terrific for the money. The sound that comes out is so much better than my television speakers. Everything sounds clean and crisp and now hear all the details. The woofer is top notch, sound gets nice and low. Over all it is a great system - not the best out there but for the money this a no brainer. Oh and the installation and hookup is a breeze - you just need two HDMI cables (by them on-line they are $4-5 each) or your regular component hookups. Actually buy the HDMI it is so worth it. One tip- if you are not mounting the bar on the wall or not up at ear level - I recommend that you at least tilt the bar up a little. I used a thin piece of wood.

This system met and exceeded my expectations. I`ve been a true audiophile for quite some time now. You know , great receiver, 7.1 speakers , nice sub. wires everywhere . My wife made me a deal that if i dumped the entire set up i could buy which ever sound bar i chose. Not a bad deal so i went for it. Got this system , delievery was quick and easy....set up was a breeze. one wire from the bar to the sub , a few optical cables from the cable box and the dvd player.......voila! finis....The sound is exceptional. Listen , not true 7.1 but it envelopes the room with smooth sound. and it plays loud if you need it too. Music is excellent and movies play just fine too...Clear dialogue and good bass from the sub.....The bar looks great and fits just about any where.....If youve had enough of the old 7 speaker thing and receiever and are looking for a real good alternative, then this is it. Sure you could spend lots more on other products but coming from someone who enjoys great sound, this serves the purpose and then some......
