General review I bought this to view Netflix which did with minor issues. But first,the the question of WiFi ability-"Wi Fi ready" means you have to use an ethernet connection." WiFi built in" means ethernet cable is NOT required. Yes with Sony you have to have a Sony account but the DVD player will give comprehensive instruction on how to do this. And if you are still having problems you might need a more powerful router like Linksay 2500 and have you server juice up your modem for more MBPS. I now have up to 15 MBPS which is more than adequate.As additional info,I have two Sonys,one Samsung and a Vizio DVD player and prefer Sony first,Samsung second(not enough Apps) and Vizio third.The reason I did't give this player 5 stars is because it doesn't have a Component connection,only HDMI or composite(RCA ) connections only 03/13/2012
Waste of time & money Was excited about our new blu ray player when I first bought it..played discs just great but the problem was getting it to connect to the internet..it was a month long problem to be exact. After going through the process to set it up..no connection..failed both on physical connection and internet connection..sony advised us that it was the router that had the problem..I went as far as buying a more up to date model ($69.00)..still no success, even after all the configuring..bought a different ethernet cable ($36.00) and still a month later no success. If I could give this player no stars I would. It went back to the store today! From now on, it's wireless or nothin'! 03/11/2012
JUNK! Did not last one month - slow when it did work! My last blu-ray was an LG (lasted me 5 years and my grandson is still using it) - going back to LG. 03/05/2012
junk! This thing skips with brand new blu rays and dvds, loses sound and picture randomly and requires re-boot, totally NOT what I expected from Sony, ESPECIALLY for what I paid for it!!! 03/05/2012
