  • A. All Blu Ray players will play standard DVD's and upconvert them as best they can to simulate HD. Don't be fooled, however, the quality will be good, but not like watching a true Blu Ray disc. Most people however find the difference negligible. (means they can't really see a difference.)

I had been waiting for Sony to release this unit. Super fast start up times, blow through Blu-Ray menu start up in no time... but best of all 802.11n fast wireless access to streaming Netflix movies quickly. I am delighted to have disconnected my HP Media PC and now simply operate and maintain a device to stream my Netflix movies and watch Blu-Rays and an occasional DVD. Only wish it would find DLNA certified devices for streaming content from my NAS drives... but firmware updates to support Sony 3D will be out soon, and maybe they'll add the feature later. Otherwise, for the price... currently it can't be beat for those that just want to simplify their life by not running an IT department for the entire house... to watch movie turn on and go!

I ordered the Sony BDP-S570 Blu-Ray Player on-line and it arrived last Friday, only a few days after I ordered it. I had it connected to the TV quickly with an HMDI cable, and was connected to my WiFi network within 15 minutes. I am not sure what the issues are everyone else has had connecting to their WiFi. I used the scan feature from the Blu-ray player. It found my secure network and then simply required me to input my WEP code and wala - we were streaming. I already had accounts with Netflix, Pandora, and Youtube, so I only had to establish a link with those accounts, which was also quick. I found that linking accounts moved fast because I was on a laptop and was able to sit in front of my TV and log into each account as needed. Yes, there are some features I needed to sign up for, but all-in-all, I found the set-up to move quickly. I also love the video on demand feature, and since my family does not watch TV and only use cable for satellite radio, I am considering canceling our cable subscription and using this for all of our needs. The picture quality is incredible! We still have not seen a Blu-Ray DVD play in the system, but all of our older DVDs look incredible. I highly recommend this product!!

I have been looking for the right Blu-ray player for quite some time and this is definitely it! The graphic interface looks like the same interface for a PS-3, so it will be familiar to many people. The overall quality is superb (using HDMI cable). I also wanted it to hook up with my NetFlix account and I was surprised as, once your unit is registered, it has so many other features to it as well other than NetFlix. Playing Blu-ray discs (and standard DVD) is a snap and the picture is quite stunning. My family and I couldn't be happier. It has far surpassed our expectations. Oh yes, I also wanted a unit that was G compatible. I know most units only work with N band. G works very well and I have had absolutely NO problems watching movies using wireless G. HD movies work flawlessly as well using G.

I recently purchased the Sony Blu Ray player S-570. I couldn't believe how clear the picture is. What a difference between regular DVD and Blu Ray. I am glad i made the decision to purchase this Blu Ray Player. I would highly recommend this product.

When I first saw this in the store I went home to check product reviews online. A Sony blu ray player with HDMI out, WIFI for streaming a ton of sites (with more coming), firmware updates wirelessly, 3D ready, super fast load times, excellent price, besides remote that comes with unit, there's an Apple app to link my itouch as a remote...well, it's not in the store anymore, it's home and I'm lovin' it. Setup was breeze and WIFI recognized immediately. Running through Onkyo A/V 7.1 surround sound system (all HDMI in and out) to our 50" Samsung plasma 1080p. BD look and sound phenomenal. Already Netflix streaming customers through XBOX 360 wirelessly. Occasional buffering with XBOX, no buffering with Sony at all. Amazon acct already so setup with Amazon was easy. Long and short, this is an incredible WIFI BluRay player for both now and the up and coming 3D future. My wife and I are thrilled with this unit.

Does Not Play Divx

All Media that you may have is Most Likely a Divx Encoded file. 90% of every thing is Divx. This Player does not work with DivX so Home Link is worthless and if you find a file that this unit can Play its Slow and Steppy. I kept this for one day and returned it. I went and bought a LG Blu Ray Player that Had Divx Logo and it worked Fantastic. Avoid Sony Products this one here specifically States that it will ONLY WORK IN CANADA This Unit is NOT made for the United states Avoid the Struggles I went through and get the LG model

Couldn't be easier to set up. With built-in wireless modem it is also easy to connect to home network - it detected it automatically and I only had to supply my password (network key for WPA2-personal). Watch out for some other brands of blue rays (and adapters for models without built-in modems) that only have WEP (who is going to downgrade their whole network's security to integrate a blue ray?). Very easy to connect to online services. It guides you through the simple and short process. The on screen menu is easy to navigate after you understand how it works: sideways for categories, up and down for selections, then more or less normally for within items or online services. This next part is not about the player but I included it FYI: I settled on Netflix and although Netflix sends out only 720p for online viewing despite rumors that they were to go 1080p this year (2010), 720p is still a very good picture and, of course, you can get blue rays in the mail - fast - usually in one (mailing) day. One complaint, and it is probably again because of Netflix, not the player, the "backup 8 seconds button" (or how ever many seconds it is) on the remote does not work with streaming movies. Hard to beat $12/month though. The player is a great value. Does a lot for the $150 I paid. I highly recommend it.

I bought this particular blu-ray for 2 specific reasons, one was i wanted to be able to do streaming netflix & secondly because it was a sony & my sony surround sound works better with other sony products than if they are a different manufacturer. My husband & I had to tag team the hook up/set up, he hooked it up to everything & then we had to buy a couple of extra hd cables & an hd switch so we wouldn't have to be constantly unhooking wires to switch back & forth between our hd accessories, once he had the extra items he had no trouble hooking it up & once i had my wireless router set up on my home computer & my computer using the wireless router, the blu-ray player automatically located & connected using wi-fi and pretty much walked itself thru the set up, all i had to do was type in a few codes, etc.....i have not actually watched a blu-ray movie in it yet because i only have dvd's at this time, but the picture on my dvd's has been excellent as is the streaming tv/netflix - i would definately recommend this to anyone wanting to do streaming tv
