Fernanda, a psychologist at a rehabilitation center has recently suffered a tragedy. Her fiance was murdered during a robbery while her father received a bullet in the spine leaving him paralyzed. At the beginning of the story we realize that Eugenio de la Peua, an evil drug dealer, is in love with Fernanda and is willing to go to any extreme to make her his wife. But Fernanda meets the handsome Jose Luis, a writer and a literature teacher at a local high school. Jose Luis is honest and hard working, charming and full of life. However, he carries a dark secret from his past. When Fernanda and Jose Luis fall in love, Eugenio gets extremely jealous and plots to eliminate his rival. This item advertises Spanish audio and English subtitles, but there are NO subtitles. NONE.

The story is not divided into episodes, which might not be a big deal for some people. I didn't mind this too much, but like I said, some people would mind.

The editing is pretty terrible, though. I have never seen this show before but came highly recommended from a friend. She came by to translate, but once we started watching it she said that it was different from what she remembered. Apparently a lot of things were cut out, as well as characters.

Manuel and Beto are main characters? Not in this version, hardly saw them.

An eternity is spent showing the development between the Robin Williams look alike (Jose Louis?) and Fernanda. However, Jaqueline falls in love with him and threatens Fernanda after seeing the guy only once, which makes no sense.

There are several references to events which are never depicted, which also makes the plot difficult to follow (specially when you don't speak the language and have to rely on someone else to try and figure out what is going on or why!).

If you have seen this before and don't mind a 17 hour preview of the original show, this is the DVD for you. Otherwise I do not recommend it.

The plot is interesting, and does deal with real problems (drug addiction, sexual harassment, and one of the high school girls is seen smoking!) so I am hoping a better version with English subtitles will be released some time in the future. Until then, save your money.
