Rated 5 out of 5 by Californian Tasty alternative I'm so much of a Coca Cola drinker that I was given a share of the stock for a birthday gift years ago. And I'm getting older, now, in retirement, and have been getting pretty tired of carting the cases of it around the store while shopping, loading and unloading them to get them home, as well as dealing with the cans thereafter. So I decided to try the SodaStream device and their cola. One of the big advantages I've found of the SodaStream Diet Cola is you can make it with as much or as little syrup as you want. At the recommended mix, it's sort of a cross between Pepsi and Coke. It's not as sweet as Pepsi, but sweeter than Coke. It has a stronger flavor than Coke out of the can, so much so that, now that I've been away from Coke for several months, the real thing tastes more watery to me. I like the taste. I didn't think, before doing a taste test of the SodaStrem Diet Cola, there was much chance I would, having been such a Coke fan, but I do. At the recommended mix ratio, you get as many liters from the bottle as they advertise, and more if you like it with a lighter flavor and use less per liter. We haven't ever had any in the refrigerator longer than a few days, before making more, but in those few days it held its fizz well. I found it much easier to order the syrup through Walmart than to try to find it in the stores. While they carry it, it's often sold out. Ordering it online solves that problem! And buying half a dozen of these once every few months is far easier than cases of Coke monthly. The bottles are small for our volume of consumption, in terms of lasting long, so I just got another set of them and make two or three bottles of it at a time. 02/04/2013
