Rated 5 out of 5 by Better choice than a bunkie The mattress came with free shipping to store, got it for $129, which after careful review of MANY items, was cheap. I love the fact it was 6", because it works great for a loft bed/bunk. The only problem I personally had was it was too short for the loft bed I ordered from walmart.com. But, that was not any fault to the Slumber 1, which is the standard twin length of 75". It did come in a box that fits in a shopping cart, which was not extremely heavy being that I hauled it in my house pregnant. It does come in a box and sealed in plastic, but puffs up to 6" in about 30 seconds. Very easy to put on the bed, cut the tape and presto! Love it, and so does my daughter! 08/30/2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by GREAT VALUE!! I bought two of these mattresses, for my daughters, ages 5 and 7. They are being used with their new Junior Loft Beds, also purchased here. I was amazed at how they are shipped, (vacuum sealed, and rolled tightly), then when you unpack it, they unroll and quickly fill up with air, and it looks like a regular mattress. You'd have never known otherwise. The mattress is thicker than I expected, and it fits perfectly into the loft beds. My girls are young, but they're actually pretty picky, and they say these are really comfortable. I used to be an industrial sewer, so I always look at stitching and details, and the quality is very good. Very well put together, and I'm thinking they will last them a long long time. There is a saying, "You get what you pay for", and sometimes that is true, but in this case, I would pay much more for these mattresses. Great value! 02/27/2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by A great product for the money I read the reviews and it seemed like a pretty good purchase. I was a bit nervous because of all the packaging comments, but when we opened the package and looked at the mattress, it is an EXCELLENT product for the money. I shopped around and this was always the cheapest mattress and it is a great product. I'm pleasantly surprised and my 6 year old daughter says she doesn't wake up with a hurt back or neck. She loves it! 01/03/2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beyond Expectations I bought this for my 2 1/2 yr old son for bunk beds and I honestly can say it's far better then the description online. It's exactly what we were looking for, not too deep cause of being used on bunk beds and very nice quality for the price. Mattress is quite firm and soft to the touch with the protective moisture barrier on it. Absolutely recommend this to a friend! Five stars!!! 01/22/2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Product! I bought 2 mattresses for my daughters bunk bed. I received them, took them out the box, cut the plastic and was ready to go. I slept on the bed the next night, mattress was very comfortable and a very easy set-up. Would strongly recommend! 12/20/2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very comfy mattress! OK, this thing comes rolled up in a box. Really, squished flat and rolled up in a box. There are instructions on how to unroll it and break the seal to re-poof it (very easy to follow), and it was fun to watch it expand in place. It says that it is ready to sleep on by the time you get sheets and a pillow on it, and fully expanded within 48 hours. I would agree with this. I laid down on it right away and it was pretty comfy. After a couple of days, it was still comfortable and more firm. I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable. This would be perfect for a kid, but would work well in a dorm room or as a mattress for an adult, too. I'm pleased with the purchase. 05/26/2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by GREAT! When I first received the package, it was in a medium size box and my first thought was "how did a mattress fit in such a small box?" Little did I know that once I removed the packaging.. the mattress opened up and expanded! Great mattress for my 5 year old! Very affordable compared to many other companies and comfortable! She LOVES it! 08/08/2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by mattress exceeded my expectations A mattress chain store repeatedly failed to deliver a high end mattress I had purchased. I cancelled my order with them. ("it will be on the truck next week got old"). I found this slumber 1 youth mattress on wallmart.com. I saw that many of the customer reviews on this bunk bed mattress were positive. I also liked the price and the mattress being compact enough to haul in my small hatchback car. So I bought this mattress "shipped to store", to the local Wallmart (no shipping charge) It did it arrive when promised and they did email AND text me when the mattress arrived at the store. Easily loaded into my small car. In my living room, I watched it unfold and expand into a high quality looking mattress. However the real proof of a good mattress is a good nights sleep. I placed the mattress on the top bunk.I had converted an old solid wood bunk bed into a loft bed in my smaller second bedroom. Small computer table/dresser below and bed above. I can affirm that I HAVE had good nights sleep on this bargain mattress. It is firm but comfortable. I added a cheap mattress pad that made it even more comfortable. I cannot imagine that the high end mattress from the other guys would have been any different other than lighten my wallet for an additional couple of hundred bucks. I am a slim to average size adult, 50yrs old. No regrets in purchasing the "slumber 1 youth mattress. It works well for big kids too! 10/01/2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by Returned this too I bought two for a bunk set. I was shocked when I pick up my order at the store. These matresses came rolled up in boxes. When I opened the packing it was crazy how these expanded out to be normal looking mattresses. They were just super vaccum sealed and rolled. They looked ok, but after a few nights of use I already noticed them dipping a bit and my kids are only 33lbs. I felt these were low quality and would not last long. I want my kids to have more support. Also, my mattress protector and fitted sheets were loose because it is so thin. If I did it again, I would go with a thicker matress. I returned these along with my bunk set. Once again, you get what you pay for... 10/25/2010
Rated 2 out of 5 by Hard as a ROCK!! When they say firm, they mean FIRM!! I bought this for my 4 yr old son's bed, and he complains that it's "hard as a brick". I didn't realize that it'd be quite so hard. It's a very sturdy mattress and very nice for the price I paid- it's just too hard for us to sleep on! The packaging was unbelievably compact, but that made it very easy for me to bring it home from the store in the back of my suburban. I'd probably buy another mattress from this line, but I'd make sure it was not a firm. 04/14/2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Meets expectations This mattress arrived on time and was easy to unpack and place on youth bunk beds. Very supportive and with the moisture barrier very nice for boys with occasional bed wetting. Love the look, feel and price. 03/10/2011
Rated 1 out of 5 by Awful, not as advertised! I bought these for my son's new bunk beds thinking they'd be perfect for a bunk bed that requires a mattress less than 8 inches. When I opened the box, I was shocked. They were THIN and not at all suitable for a mattress. They are basically foam pads! The advertisement for 5 inches is WAY off. I measured and they are 2 3/4. If you want a foam pad to use on a cot, these might work. I am returning them right now. I am writing this review hoping that no one else wastes their time or money. 02/10/2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great mattress....for the price This is an extremely comfortable mattress, given the price and thickness. We bought it for a twin bed we put up in our nursery, for those long nights up frequently with the baby. Even without a foundation, it is extremely comfortable....much more so than the bunk bed mattresses we have on our son's bed, which we paid twice as much for. If the mattress is comfortable enough for sleep-deprived parents, I think it is more than suitable for a growing child. And the moisture barrier is just an added bonus. Thumbs up....one of the best purchases made on walmart.com!! 01/05/2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by I purchased this for my grandbaby she is 3 1/2 and weights 34 pounds. After sleeping on this for three nights it already has a indention where she lays. For the price it is not worth it. 01/10/2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best mattress for bunk beds I bought 2 of these for our twins bunk bed and they love it. It's very comfortable and the it comes rolled up in a convenient vacuum packed packaging. It's well constructed and strong enough the support an adult. I've slept on it and it was very comfortable. 06/09/2011
Rated 1 out of 5 by hard as a rock! this mattress fit the bed perfectly but is so hard I actually felt bad for my child and returned it to get something better. After reading the reviews I thought it would be a great mattress but I was SO WRONG. Unless your child likes sleeping on concrete, DO NOT buy this product. 02/22/2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good mattress for loft bed. It seems really comfortable though my children are the ones sleeping on it and was packaged in shrink wrap which made it a smaller and easier to manage size to move around. The only down side is that it is a one-sided mattress so you cant flip it but the kids have been getting a good night's rest. It also arrived within two days of ordering it very efficient and affordable shipping. 08/15/2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Comfy I bought 2 of these mattresses for my sons' bunk beds. They're 5 and 20mts old. They are very comfortable and a great price. I'm very happy with this product. 11/02/2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by perfect mattress for bunk bed Awesome mattress , soft w/ deep pockets. Warning don't be alarmed when you see the small box, there IS a mattress inside , it's vacuumed sealed , once you open it , it will expand, pretty neat. great buy. my kids love it . Note: I also got the full size mattress. 02/13/2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Value, Firm and doesn't look cheap I had my reservations about this mattress before I received it. We have been looking for a mattress for my son's bunk bed but the selection was limited for low profile twin mattresses. The prices were north of $200 and even at $200 the quality of the ones we checked was nothing to brag about. I finally decided to give Walmart a shot and now I am glad I did. The mattress arrived in a box and it was amazing how this thing unwrapped and stretched. The look and feel of it was really better than I expected, it is firm but not hard. We only had it just over a week now, so far my son has no complaints, so that is my initial opinion after one week, but from the look of it I would say this was a very good deal. 07/11/2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Comfy, fits sheets well, soft but firm, heavy The mattress is heavy so it does make changing the sheets & mattress pad on the top bunk a little difficult but you can get used to it. It's a soft mattress but very firm, comfortable and a great price. 09/29/2011
Rated 2 out of 5 by Would not buy again Yes, watching this bed unfold was quite interesting. Beyond that, I don't see how this is categorized as a "moisture barrier". It looks like any ordinary mattress with no special purpose. I relied heavily on the reviews and decided to purchase this. This mattress is very uncomfortable to sleep on. Had to buy a mattress pad for comfort. For about the same price, I could have just stuck with a Sealy. I won't make the same mistake again. 05/10/2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Mattress We ordered 2 because our child has a trundle bed which needs a mattress for both the top & bottom pullout. Even though I read most of the reviews - I will still VERY skeptical about what we were getting for the low price. The mattress comes rolled up and the air is all sucked out & sealed in plastic - which makes it possible to be rolled up in a box. When you take it out of the plastic it puffs up to a nice mattress. We were surprised how nice it was. The outer fabric is soft and not cheap & shiny looking. Our child loves it. It's already had something spilled on it and it cleaned easily. I would highly recommend this product. 04/14/2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by ugh when i ordered this product i was under the impression the there are no springs but when i brought it home in a box which i was amazed on and unrolled it there were spring . so all in all good for now but wont keep it for long its hard and uncomfortable 02/18/2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect for our new bunkbeds I purchased two of these mattresses for our new metal bunk beds and I am pleased with how they fit the frame and how comfortable they are. As some other reviewers have noted, there is a 4 inch or so gap in the length of the mattress in the frame, but when I made the bed and included the comforter, the gap was filled. I was also impressed by how ingenuity employed in the packing of the mattresses. I was sure that they would not lay flat after having been rolled up for so long. I should not have worried. As the vacuum seal was broken, and air was allowed to rush into the mattress, it lay out flat! It was fun to watch. My twins love their new mattresses and declared them the most comfortable beds ever. 08/14/2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by DON'T PASS THE VALUE UP! I was extremely skeptical of this product description - a mattress in a BOX??? But, I was impressed with the MANY MANY positive reviews, and the price was great for our budget. We purchased two of the twin size mattresses to use in the Elise Bunk Bed set in black (another great value from walmart.com). When we picked up the boxes at our site to store location, I was immediately hopeful because the boxes were HEAVY. They felt like they might actually contain a bonafide mattress. The appearance of the mattress when it comes out of the box is not what you expect. It slides out in a roll, tightly wrapped. Once I unrolled it, it instantly started making a hissing noise and filling up with air - right in front of my eyes. Hey, it was a really good show! These are some of the most comfortable mattresses I have slept on. I napped with my 6 year old in her bottom bunk, and was very impressed. This is not some foam camp mattress. This is a fully coiled, very well supported mattress with backbone. I am very impressed overall with this product, the compact way it is shipped, the value - everything. Don't mock the mattress in a box until you have tried this one! 03/05/2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by Surprised At first, I thought it was too good to be true to find a mattress at this price. When we went to pick up the item from Site to Store, I was frightened as it came in a BOX all decompressed and rolled up - I thought that the item was mislabeled on the Walmart site and I received only a cover and not an actual mattress. But when we got it home and opened up the box, it inflated itself and unsprung to become a normal full-sized mattress. My daughter loves it and you can't beat the price - plus it was so easy to get home the way it was boxed up, anyone could pick it up and take it home in the trunk of their car. I recommend it. 02/12/2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent purchase! Myhusband and I bought this mattress for our 2 year old's new big boy bed. (Step 2 Convertable Stock Car Bed) It has beed an excellent purchase! We are very impressed by the quality and comfort, and our son seems to like it, too! The packaging is pretty cool- vacuum packed and in a roll. It only took a few minutes for the mattress to fluff up to it's normal shape. We would purchase this product again if we needed to! 01/15/2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very nice mattress Definitely recommend. My daughter was uncomfortable with her old bunk bed mattress, which was quite thin and filled with various colored bits of stuff. She also had developed allergy probems which were made worse by the old mattress. She says she's much more comfortable in her bed and she hasn't had any allergy issues with it. We use this in combination with a hypoallergenic mattress cover. I like that the mattress is white, which gives it a clean appearance and helps me make sure it IS clean! 06/30/2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by Step above foam This mattress is thin and not too comfortable. We purchased it to fit on a top bunk, and any truly comfortable mattress was too big. It is adequate, and fits the bunk bed, but I am glad I am not sleeping on it! 04/26/2012
