The mattress came with free shipping to store, got it for $129, which after careful review of MANY items, was cheap. I love the fact it was 6", because it works great for a loft bed/bunk. The only problem I personally had was it was too short for the loft bed I ordered from walmart.com. But, that was not any fault to the Slumber 1, which is the standard twin length of 75". It did come in a box that fits in a shopping cart, which was not extremely heavy being that I hauled it in my house pregnant. It does come in a box and sealed in plastic, but puffs up to 6" in about 30 seconds. Very easy to put on the bed, cut the tape and presto! Love it, and so does my daughter!

I bought two of these mattresses, for my daughters, ages 5 and 7. They are being used with their new Junior Loft Beds, also purchased here. I was amazed at how they are shipped, (vacuum sealed, and rolled tightly), then when you unpack it, they unroll and quickly fill up with air, and it looks like a regular mattress. You'd have never known otherwise. The mattress is thicker than I expected, and it fits perfectly into the loft beds. My girls are young, but they're actually pretty picky, and they say these are really comfortable. I used to be an industrial sewer, so I always look at stitching and details, and the quality is very good. Very well put together, and I'm thinking they will last them a long long time. There is a saying, "You get what you pay for", and sometimes that is true, but in this case, I would pay much more for these mattresses. Great value!

I bought this for my 2 1/2 yr old son for bunk beds and I honestly can say it's far better then the description online. It's exactly what we were looking for, not too deep cause of being used on bunk beds and very nice quality for the price. Mattress is quite firm and soft to the touch with the protective moisture barrier on it. Absolutely recommend this to a friend! Five stars!!!

I'm thinking about purchasing these mattresses for my children; however, my oldest child weighs about 110 lbs (maybe more). Will this be a comfortable mattress for him? Will it support his weight?
    by lovenpeace4 3/8/2011
    • I believe the mattress is firm enough for a significant weight. I would see no problem in the mattress holding an adult.
      by MCO60926/19/2011
Was this answer helpful? (0) (0)
    • Absolutely. This mattress would be sufficient for an adult. It's pretty firm, and barely squishes at all, even when I lay on it (and I weigh more than 110 lbs).

    • While I haven't slept in my kids' beds I have laid on the mattresses and I would think there'd be no problem. I'm 118 and it didn't feel like the springs would give any time soon.

    • I bought this for my 5 yr old son but I occasionally lay on it and I'm 117 lbs. I feel that it supports me just fine. Hope it helps.

    • Well, I had a friend stay over that slept on this mattress and she weighs over 200 pounds. It left a huge dent in the bed but only because there are only 4 support beams underneath. I think 110 pounds would be alright. This bed is rather supportive. I really hope this helps.

    • It may be too firm. I'm about 15 lbs heavier and I've laid on my son's and it's like laying on a cement sidewalk!

    • I got this mattress for my six year old. I think for an older kid something alittle more firm might be better.

    • it is a GREAT bed my son is only 45 pounds but I am 160 and I have slept in it with him when he first got it till he was comfortable in a "big boy" bed.... IT is a GREAT mattress!!! I have to admit, it was even more comfortable than my own bed!!so I'd say yes...

    • WEll I was really surprised, when i got it i expected it to be soft, no not at all, it's very supportive, I weight more than that, ok so it felt a little hard for me but my mattress is softer, this one would be fine, i'm thinking on ordering another 3 my self, hope this helps

Many new mattresses, particularly those with memory foam, have a strong chemical smell. Does this mattress have a strong smell or are you able to sleep on it immediately?
    by ramathael 4/24/2011
    • I did not notice any smell from the mattresses and my grandchildren used them the day they came in. I had read that in the reviews as well and was somewhat concerned however I noticed no problem.
      by MCO60926/19/2011
Was this answer helpful? (0) (0)
    • Let it air out for at least 24 hours- they suggest 48 hours to air it out. It has slight smell but you can sleep on it after one night of "airing" out open.
      by SofCol6/8/2011
Was this answer helpful? (0) (0)
    • Nope, no smell. You can sleep on it right away. I didn't even notice a smell as I took it out of the box and broke the seal on the wrapper.

    • I know what you mean about the strong smell of memory foam, and no ... this mattress doesn't have that or any other odor. You can sleep on it right away.

    • I did not smell anything although my husband said he could. So, if there was odor, it wasn't strong enough. We still let it air out overnight just to be sure.

    • You are correct, many memory foam mattresses have chemical smells. This is common. This particular mattress is treated with Green Tea, which acts as a natural agent to help with the smell. I would suggest letting the mattress air out for 24hrs before use.

We are about to transform our daughter's toddler to bed to full bed and I'm shopping for mattress that does not require a box springs, because I like low beds and it's safer for kids.

    • its ment to be used in a bunk bed, or i used the slumber 1 smart base steel frame, its like a frame with a built in box frame.if you use this frame, the bed stays low, i use it for my 4 year and it work great, its a floppy mattress so if you don't have support it will sink....so if you don;'t have a special frame like the slumber 1, then yes, you will need a box spring

    • I didn't. I did have to add some additional wood support on the bottom because if we did the box, it would not fit in the bunk beds. I was minimal though.
