Good Alternative to Sleep Number My husband and I bought chose this mattress because we need a queen size bad. We both have back problems so we looked into Sleep number beds, which are much more expensive than an mid-range quality mattress which we were budgeted for. So we chose this and have been happy with both the price and performance. The bundled bed base was a high selling point because the price was comparable to that of descent spring mattress but didn't require an additional box spring and frame. (the frame doesn't attach to all headboards easily, but that is common with bed frames) All of this arrived in about three boxes that fit easily in the back of my Rav4. The setup really requires 2 people and about 40 minutes because the instructions are pictorial and not self explanatory. Everything is vacuum packed so be prepared to wrestle it out of the packaging (again 2 people are helpful here). Also, open the foam side wall first it takes a few minutes to expand to full size while you sort the other pieces out. I strongly suggest constructing the mattress top side (the side your lay on) down then flipping it once done. Once complete air it up and try it out!We find it looks like and has the structure of a traditional mattress. You can sit on the sides without sinking in. The top layer of padding isn't the best but a fiber bed topper solved that issue quickly. But please know the "number" specific level of air in the 2 chambers is independent for both chambers of the mattress and not very number specific at all. The numbers fluctuate as you move on the mattress and the store and recall functions of your favorite number don't work well unless there is a large numerical difference to begin with. But you can make it firmer or softer on command which is what we cared about most. We found the air pump can be unplugged and the mattress will still hold its air. The remotes aren't wireless, by the way, which the online picture might make you think.Overall I like this product a lot and will recommend it to many. I also like that when we move we can completely disassemble our bed into smaller movable pieces. 12/27/2008
Not as good as I wanted it to be If you want a sleep number bed then buy one don't buy this. It has 2 chambers and foam around the edges but nothing between the chambers so there is a LARGE void in the middle which you sink into.I had to buy a separate foam topper and jam it into the space between the air chambers to fill it. With that its fine but without it the bed is unusable. I considered returning it but my wife had already broken down the boxes and taken them to the recycling center. 11/06/2011
