Sins of a Solar Empire (PC) 4.8 5 5 9
Cool Space RTS Game This is a really cool Space RTS. The most impressive feature to me is that there is no 'Modes' (like planet mode... tactical mode). It is all there at once and you can scroll all the way out an look at stars or all the way in and look at individual fighters attacking your enemy's capital ships. While you are zoomed in, you can change your research or what your ship factories are building, or send reinforcements to the raging battle. The map editor is really cool too, because you do not have to deal with the minor details if you don't want to. You can tell it how many stars, how many planets, and how many enemies you want and it will generate a random map based on your selections. 04/18/2008
Fun and filling Sins of a Solar empire is an in depth game, however it requires to think instead of just building up a massive fleet and attacking, you need to research ship types and weapons enhancements and you must work on fleet size, however if you war and blood isnt your way you can take the civil way and trick enemies out of their planets by using broadcasting centers to spread your culture, the game can go from a galactic view to a few meters view with a simple scroll. However despite all this depth and polish the game seems a bit empty almost, their is no story mode, only back story, and this keeps you with to many questions on the back story, also pirates seem a bit to overpowered, an hour in the game and they can wipe out your whole empire, which can be a fun challenge and an annoyance, and for a game as huge as Sins it seems like 3 races is to small, luckily updated versions of the game support legal mods that add new races, maps and game types which is alot of fun, this game is a blast and i highly suggest it 03/28/2009

Deep, replayable, addictive This isn't a game for casual gamers. It requires a bit of thinking, and it has a bit of a learning curve - I'd say about 30 minutes gets one all the basics required to genuinely enjoy playing (the tutorials help a lot, but the lack of voiced instructions hurts a little; it requires a bit of reading).Nevertheless, once the game mechanics are understood, it can rapidly suck away hours of your evening. It is thoroughly enjoyable to play and it can be more than a little challenging at times, depending on the difficulty level chosen.Sins of a Solar Empire, despite its greatness, curiously feels a little unfinished. There is no single player game, so there is no story behind the gameplay. To some, this would seem a significant deficit for this type of game. But don't let that deter you. If you like real-time strategy games (RTS), this is a fantastic choice. Though the pace is largely quite slow, when you and the rival empires begin to bump into each other, things heat up!Its a great game, and a wonderful diversion. 03/13/2008
