Rated 4 out of 5 by Redd Handy Dandy Multi-use Serger! Purchased this about a month ago. As previous reviewer said, definitely set up and try all stitches first to familiarize yourself. The CD workbook is also conveniently on Singer's website. Print it out! It will be your best friend. Some people say sergers are hard to thread-I just don't see it. This is my first serger and I had no problem threading with the help of the workbook and color-coded dots. Some tips, like the 'pop' trick for breaking the thread at end of cover hems, since you can't chain off, should be in the workbook, but the nice lady at the Singer Education Dept. can help. Bit pricey, but figure out how much it would cost to buy a 5-thread serger AND a coverstitch machine and it doesn't seem so bad. Would have given 5 stars if it was a tad lower in price.Overall, great serger - easy to use and LOTS of functions. 09/07/2010
Rated 1 out of 5 by Katrina Not a happy camper I received this combo as a gift. The sewing machine worked like a charm for three sessions then the material got tangled in the bobbin. I was able to disengage the mess but now the machine will not sew. The bobbin does not feed the thread to the needle for pick up. I did all the suggested remedies but still no luck. I want to send it packing. I have not used the serger as I am afraid if the thread breaks I will be sunk again. 08/04/2010
