Rated 4 out of 5 by MamaChickie Pretty good purchase Bought this ladder to help older members of my family enter and exit the pool. We attached it to our deck and it functions quite well for our purpose. Assembly was easy. This ladder is pretty sturdy. Handrails are a bit too flimsy for my liking. Not sure if would hold 400 lbs. but holds the weight of heavier people in my family. We eliminated the sand as this would make it difficult to remove for pool closing. To deal with it floating we drilled extra holes in the bottom/sides to allow water to fill and then and attached milk jugs filled with sand to further weight it down. This seemed to do the trick. The biggest problem was with the nuts and bolts...while we didn't have trouble with them lining up as other reveiwers mentioned they we continuously coming unscrewed! So the handrails would become flimsy and I would find parts on the bottom of the pool...not cool. So I reattached to plastic acorn nuts included and will see if it helps. Next year I think I will put lock washers on. 07/25/2012

The 50 lbs of sand used as ballast was an unexpected expense and made it difficult to get it in an above-ground pool. The handrails do not support any lateral pressure. 07/16/2012

Should be informed before buying of additional item needed. Product is stable though and kids find it very useful and strong enough for my twins and I to climb in and out of pool without a problem. Neighborhood kids like the new steps too. Nice Design. 08/06/2012
