Customer Product Reviews

Rated 4.9 out of 5★ by 11reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Good deal A great, low cost upgrade for older freewheel 5 speed rear hubs. I have a few 80's era Schwinn and Peugeot bikes. This 6 speed freewheel slides right in without a problem. The extra gear is nice to have even though the overall range, high to low is the same. It is spaced for index shifting with an SIS deraillier. 09/01/2010
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Good value My local bike store sells this exact model freewheel for $29.95. Make sure you have a freewheel and not a freehub. Do yourself a favor and get a removal tool (socket-like thing) for the old gears cluster. Mine was extremely difficult to get off, even with a removal socket and a huge wrench. But this new one screwed on quick as a bunny and works great. Be aware it is not the highest quality manufacturing, some of the teeth are different sizes and the angles and bevels seem to be haphazard. But its a great value. 10/16/2012
Rated 5 out of 5★ by shimano freewheel, 6 spd. Replaced my 5- spd. cassette on my '70s Schwinn Continental. Went on easy. Looks great, works great. Haven't been able to get into giant 1st (lowest) gear yet. Need to lengthen my new chain by a few links (courtesy of local bike shop) and lengthen the cable adjustment on my new rear shimano derailleur. Great price, smooth operation ! ! 09/30/2011
Rated 5 out of 5★ by You can't beat it I have a 1994 GT Outpost. The chain and freewheel were worn, therefore when pedaling it would slip a lot. I had no idea Walmart sold these until I Googled freewheel. Three of my local bike shops didn't have these (freewheels) in stock (they now only carry cassettes) and when they would have got it in is was going to be about $20- $25, a fourth bike shop had it in stock at $20, but I didn't want to drive 20 -30 minutes each way to get it, thus spending an hour in time and $5 - $10 in gas. I was in no hurry as the bike wasn't going to be used again for about a week or so. Ordered it on a Sunday evening and it arrived next Wednesday. With shipping I paid just under $16, that was eight days ago. I now see the price of the freewheel is now about $16, it was around $13 when I bought just two weeks ago. Even at $16 and shipping fee of only $2 (tax at 69cents) , it's a deal. It's now on and works great, no more slipping, the new chain did come from a local bike shop. I used a Sram chain. Can't beat the Walmart deal. 08/11/2013
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Who would have thought that Walmart would sell a Shimano Freewheel? Well they do and it was by far the best price on the web with fast low cost shipping. Can't ask for anything more than that. 10/19/2011
Rated 5 out of 5★ by very happy i need some way to fix my bike tire. so i order this. when it show up to my house. i look at it and it look small. i did not know what to think other than tell my self this is not going to fit. but it did fit and work well. now i order a tool from this web site and i found out it was the wrong size. i use a car nut just to remove the broken gear. i gust there more than one way to remove gear. now just say that. i will not be shock if other try it. lol... 09/14/2012
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Shimano Freewheel for 18-Speed Bike A perfect replacement for the worn out freewheel on my Wife's bicycle. A special removal tool is recommended! The axle does not have to be dismantled to replace the Freewheel, although I needed to tear down the axle anyway to regrease the bearings after cleaning. 08/07/2013
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Good Stuff It was a perfect replacement on my 1988 Trek 400T 18 speed (3x6). I was repacking all the bearings and putting on a new chain. For this price there was no reason to leave the old freewheel on. Fits the older Shimano thread on type freewheels. 10/15/2013
