This item works wonders in removing shedding fur!!! I have a Husky and he sheds A LOT! It seems he starts shedding with every weather change. Simply brush the comb tines through your dogs fur and each time you'll come away with a handful of shedding fur. He really enjoys the process, because it is not as difficult as other types of brushes. The metal comb tines are all that touch his skin, so it is like a massage for him. He loves the attention of getting a comb-out, and I know he feels better getting al that shedding fur removed. Just try it & you (and your dog) will LOVE it.

I purchased this item for my cats, who both have medium length hair. I was using a cat brush, but kept having to dig the hair out of the brush every minute or so, plus the cats didn't like the feel of the brush. I purchased the ShedMonster and LOVE it!!!! Within about 5 minutes, I had a huge pile of hair that would have otherwise been all over the house or stuck on the cat, or in her mouth, making her miserable. She loved the ShedMonster and kept rubbing her face on it. She slept on my lap while I used this on her. She never flinched. She even rolled over so I could get her other side!! I would HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone with a pet that has medium to long hair!!!!

I recently adopted a 1 year old Siberian Husky. Along with him came a kennel, food and water dishes, collar, leash, food, and A LOT OF HAIR! After doing research and watching videos about grooming Huskies, I thought for sure this was going to be a tremendously difficult and time consuming process. I decided to get this tool because of the reviews from other Husky owners and because of the price. It is AMAZING!!! It removes so much hair and clumps in just one pass that it takes no time at all to groom the entire dog. Along with the hair it also removes a lot of the dander, which I hadn't even realized was there as it was hidden deep down in the undercoat. Another plus with tool is that Odin ABSOLUTELY LOVES IT!!! He thinks he is getting a massage and will lay there with his eyes closed and let me groom him, enjoying the entire process. It is so calming for him and me! I mean seriously - it is so ZEN!!! Husky owners - GET THIS TOOL!!! I promise, you will not regret it!!!

This brush is amazing, not to mention the price. I was floored by how much hair was left behind, there was enough to make a puppy. I used the same one on my cats, one short hair, one long hair...I love this thing. I didn't expect as much hair to come from the shorthair cat, but there was a lot. My dogs love when I brush them with this. I can imagine it must feel awesome to get the undercoat. Not to mention, how shiny their coats all are, afterwards. I highly recommend this product. There should be no negative feedback, as stated earlier, the trick is the angle-just move your hand around a bit until it starts working. I have tried many brushes, etc. Never one more than $20., but for this price, it is a no brained. I sent pics of the hair balls removed to my friends (I was so impressed, as u will be). Everyone has one now. I never review products, I just feel this is way overlooked as a top product. Love it ;)

I have a German shepherd but her coat isn't too long. This tool works good on her spine and tail but not too good on the rest of her. I would recommend it if your dog has the right length coat.

    • A. Until they stop shedding? To the dog it is just a massage and attention from their loved one. My dog loves it, it is NOT as traumatic as a normal brush.

    • A. The first time using, I'd use twice in a month. After that, once a month works just fine.

    • A. I've been using it once to twice weekly on my same sized dog with medium length fur. After the first few times, I noticed the shedding was reduced and I could focus on just the two main areas of shedding that just don't seem to slow down--the hind quarters and the scruff of the neck.

    • A. It's not how often, but how LONG per session the dog will enjoy it. I brush my border collie almost every day during his "spring blow out" shedding season, and also almost daily during his "fall blowout" shedding season, but, only for about 10 minutes, and next day, I do another 10 minutes on another part of him. I give him tiny treats and praise, too. He doesn't mind it, so long as I keep the comb cleaned of the hairs in it. One swipe = ton of hair in the comb. It's VERY effective de-shedder comb!!! but IF YOU DO NOT CLEAN OUT THIS BRUSH BETWEEN EACH SWIPE OR TWO, IT WILL WILL WILL BEGIN TO 'TUG' and pull the hairs out, which hurts the dog, BUT, so long as you DO keep the tines of this comb cleaned out between every swipe or two, is fine. (excess hair in between these tight tines, makes it TOO tight, and pulls hairs) So keep a trash bag beside you, to keep dumping the hairs in. It is a LOT LOT LOT of fur that will come off, when you use this comb, looks like a whole extra dog in the bag! haha. Every once in a blue moon, i'll comb the entire dog, all in one sitting, but, my dog much prefers 10 minutes per day, vs. a whole 30 minute session all at once, he gets bored of that, and this thing *can* occasionally tug on fur. Like if you do a reeeeeally long swipe, by the time this comb is at the end of that long swipe ,the tines of the comb are now OVERLY FULL of fur, and it will tug the fur on those last few inches. so only do SHORT swipes, and keep those tines empty after each swipe or two. You should NOT use this brush on his belly, legs, or anywhere where the fur is NOT thick. THIS BRUSH REEEEEALLY WORKS, and saves our carpets from all those "shedding season" dust bunnies. Wowza, does this comb reeeally remove the shedding hairs. Makes the fur all shiney too, kinda glossy looking and soft, just from this comb. (tip: bathing a dog during shedding season also will knock off all that shedding fur, all in one fell swoop, too. I bathed my dog once per week during the month of shedding season only, and then, only as needed rest of year)

    • A. If I am following the links here correctly, the pro model you mention is for short hair dogs. and this one here, is for long hair dogs. I bought this $14 one for my long hair dog, works great. Wayyy better price than the famous deshedder combs, and it's same thing, only less than half of their price. I remember thinking, it was weird, the short hair version costs MORE, but, it did. I bought mine in store, not online. Maybe I am wrong on why one comb costs $5 more than the other. THIS COMB IS A MOST AWESOME DESHEDDER COMB, very very effective, gets GOBS of fur off, every swipe. btw, you HAVE TO clean the tines of these kinds of combs off, after Every swipe or two, cuz, the excess fur piling up amongst the tines of the comb, makes it TOO tight, and then you are tugging and pulling out hairs which HURTS the dog, to have his hair pulled, BUT if you DO keep the comb cleaned out, after Every swipe or two, is fine. Is VERY easy to remove the fur you do get from every swipe, just comes right out of the comb, super easy. ALSO, only do short swipes only, or else, the hair builds all up in between the tines by the time you finish a really long swipe, and hurts the dog, it'll 'pull' his hair by the end of any really long swipes. so only SHORT SWIPES. This left my dog's fur so shiney and softer and wow, does it ever save my carpets from dust bunnies. I love this comb. My dog only "likes" this comb, so I only use for a short period of time per day, like 10 minutes, and next day, do a different section x 10 minutes. He likes THAT better, than all at once.

    • A. The professional model has teeth closer together and is marketed as being for short hair dogs, like Labs. The other one has teeth a bit farther apart and the packaging says for medium to long hair dogs. I got the latter, for my golden retriever and it works great. I love it. Far superior to Furminator. Best dog grooming tool I ever bought. In fact, I don't even use my other brushes anymore. This combes the hair off gently and leaves the good, attached, top coat behind without cutting. I wish I had the patent on this. I think I will go back to the chain pet store and see if I can get my money back on the overpriced Furminator.
