Rated 5 out of 5★ by ohiobassfisherman Hard to believe this is only $15, great surf rod. First let me preface this by saying I bought this as a throw away to take to Florida. I had taken all this heavy surf gear the year before and found that on the gulf side, you really don't need it. I put a Spirex 4000 on it with 15lbs. braid. The rod performed flawlessly, handled the snapper, flounder, redfish, snook with no problem. I wasn't expecting much for $15 so I was pleasantly surprised. I take several of these with me now, I leave my expensive bass rods at home. Beach fishing is relaxed, and you can relax knowing that no one is stealing your $400 G Loomis rod while you are out wading!! 02/15/2012
Rated 1 out of 5★ by TomLeo Don't waste your money I bought this 2 days ago, and the rod looks great, but is cheaply made and very fragile for a graphite rod. I caught a fish this morning, well within the capabilities of the rod as specced, and the rod broke in 2 places. I'm going to be at Walmart in the morning, and exchange it, since I can't find the receipt for a cash refund, but upgrade to the Ugly stick, specifically. 07/05/2013
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Blair55 Very good rod for Gulf flats fishing I have used this model rod for over 10 years for redfish and trout fishing on the Gulf coast flats and own at least 8 of them. It is sturdy and the guides hold up well. It has enough strength to pop a cork and play a big redfish and enough flexibility to cast a lure well. I don't rinse my rods after salt water use and after 6-7 years some of the cages holding the stainless steel insert corrode and release the insert. If someone steps on it or closes a car door on it you haven't lost $100. The mechanism to attach the reel foot to the rod will not corrode and works as well in a 10 year old rod as in a new one. The only weakness is a design change about 2 years ago which prevents Penn spinning reels from seating in the rear slot. I was able to use my Dremel tool burr to carve the slot out and make the Penn reel foot fit. It is very durable and a great rod and I recommend it without reservation. 07/30/2013

Rated 4 out of 5★ by DJ44 Great value This is a good rod for light tackle fishing. Excellent value for a 7' two piece medium action rod, just $15. 06/12/2013
Rated 5 out of 5★ by TNfishing Good value rod I prefer a 6.6' fishing rod and this one had performed well for my needs. The value is hard to beat so I've now got one for each of my reels. I typically do light fishing in local rivers with 6lb line and the rods sensitivity and stiffness has worked well. Be careful because the two piece version of this rod seems to be crushed a little lore easily than others when it's broken down for carrying. 06/06/2014
