Ok, I NEVER review things, but all the reviews on this site made me finally break down and buy this table for so cheap without looking at it, so I am returning the favor. First, ordered the table and chairs, and both were here within the week. Assembly, I'm a female college student who can't even name the tiny tools that were provided with the table and chairs to assemble them and I had the table together in 5 minutes (it literally took longer to unpackage the entire thing than put it together) and the chairs the first one took me about 30 minutes because I accidentally had one piece backwards. The other ones I knocked out in about 15 minutes each, and that was with the TV on. Oh and I did this entirely by myself. Looks, it looks beautiful and is perfect for the small dinning area in my apartment. There are a few spots on the chairs (if you get up REAL close) where the finish isn't PERFECT, but whatever to me it looks AMAZING, and for only $179 (table AND chairs) even better. I was scared it would look too cheap but to my surprise it doesn't. Definitely a step up from IKEA's dining options and surprisingly also WAY cheaper. I might decide in the future the get some cushions for the chairs, but I feel it might make it too grandma, I like the modern simple way it looks just the way it came!

I'm a mom with three boys and I needed to replace some fabric made chairs that my boys really destroyed. I need something easy to clean, saw these and thought they would be great for temp. chairs until my boys got old enough to eat and drink food better. Anyway, I was very surprised how great they looked for the price and because it's Walmart. There easy to clean, durable and stylish, better than the pic looks. A little tedious to put together, but nothing a big, strong and patient husband can't do.

These chairs are terrible to put together!! Took almost 5 hrs to put together with assistance. The bolts and screws are tough to line up and easily strip if not careful. However.. when the chairs and table are together the piece looks great. Chairs are very sturdy and nice looking overall. Compliments any small space well.

How large is the box that the chairs are shipped in? I want to save to $50 shipping charge... Will the box fit in the trunk of my Honda Civic?
    by ashleyyoung001 9/24/2010
    • It's a lrg box and it's heavy I don't think it would fit in the back of your car.

    • if the back seats of your Honda are able to go down to make the trunk larger, yes, you can fit the box in there. I also have a Honda civic and this was the case for moi : )

    • Ashley, If you remove the contents of the box, you can fit the parts into your Civic. But no way you will be able to fit it in a Civic trunk. I have a 98 4Runner and the box fit inside it with no problems.

    • With the back seats the box may fit. It's a little longer than the height of the chair.

    • If your rear seat folds, I would say yes, definitely. The box is not too big considering it holds parts for 4 chairs. You could also open the box and take pieces out.

    • The box is a lot smaller than I expected. Would fit in a trunk for sure

    • The box is probably too large for the truck of a Honda Civic, but an option would be taking the pieces out of the box and loading them into the trunk.

    • I would say no it wont fit in your trunk. The box was pretty long. Maybe if you put the back seats down in your car it would.

I've put together the rest of the chair and am on the last step. This step is attaching the seat to the legs. There are no pre-made holes but it looks like it is attached via small screws that are supposed to be screwed in with that plastic baby-screw driver they give you. Did anyone assemble this another way? Any tips? Thanks!
    by ChairlessTable 8/15/2010
    • The baby screwdriver is only used to align the silver inserts the screws screw into. Use a regular screwdriver, as recommended in the Tools Needed section of the assembly manual.

    • there should be 4 small pre-drilled holes for the screws which go in at an angle/slant. It's easy to do. If you dont have the pre-drilled holes then just sink in the screws, 2 on each side of the seat-they will go in. No, don't use the baby plastic driver - this is TOO weak-you need an actual real phillips head screw driver because you have to turn those screws in hard : )

    • In the horizontal pieces of the chair, you will see diagonally drilled holes. That's where you set the screw and screw them into the chair.

    • I used a regular screwdriver on the 3 I was able to assemble. The screws went in pretty easy. And it didn't split the wood.

    • I used a real screwdriver and it worked fine. You just have to be careful that the seat is exactly where you want it to be (centered left-right, and pushed all the way to the back of the chair).

Was this answer helpful? (1) (0)
    • No, you're not supposed to use the little plastic screw driver! That's just for getting the cams lined up properly for the bolts! You should use your own phillips head screw driver, as indicated in the instructions (under "materials needed but not included")

    • The instructions were not clear. You have to put the screws in at an angle, and beware, the seat will not be flush with the base. Each one is off in a driierent way, it isn't pretty.

    • You actually just create your own screw holes. What i did was in the front two screw spots, on one of them but the screw through the hole on the base part of the chair, in the front. Make a little indentation on the bottom of the seat part (where the screw will go) then take the seat part off, take a hammer and make the indentation a little larger, then put seat back on, and screw it to. they go pretty easily that way.

    • You have to screw the seat to the leg-base with a regular screw driver.

    • Its a dark espresso color. Oak will not match to it unless its a dark espresso color which most of the time, oak is not.
