"What's in the box?" Seven (Se7en) is the best psychological thriller since The Silence of the Lambs. It follows two detectives, Somerset (Morgan Freeman) and Mills (Brad Pitt), as they track down "John Doe" (Kevin Spacey), a serial killer that is inspired by the seven deadly sins.The cinematography in the film is at the same time bleak and beautiful and it sets the mood and atmosphere of the film perfectly. The city (it's never mentioned by name) and the way it is shot, becomes a character onto itself."John Doe" is one of the most chilling movie villains of all time. The conversation he has with detective Mills at the end of the film is great. I really love the character of detective Somerset. I liken him to a wise master trying to teach a head-strong, brash apprentice (Mills).If you've never seen this movie before, don't let anyone tell you about the ending! It is intense!I personally think Seven is David Fincher's best work to date. I love Fight Club, but I think this one is a bit (by a hair) better.I would recommend buying this Platinum Edition (in widescreen, though) set over the standard one disc set. I think the deleted and extended scenes are worth it. The price here is great and a real bargin for what you get.I highly recommend this film! 02/27/2010
