Schweiger, a freelance writer for magazines like Marie Claire, Interview, and In Style, has compiled a modern beauty-basics book that merges timeless advice with product placement. This approach is fitting, as the store for which the book is titled plans to use the book to mark its ten-year anniversary. Chapters include tips and recommendations from "the personalities behind your favorite brands", such as Wende Zomnir (Urban Decay) and Maureen Kelly (Tarte). However, this is more than a book about cosmetics; contributors like Nicholas Perricone, dermatologist and namesake for the Perricone brand, lend credence to the "beauty is on the inside" mantra pervasive in the text. The book has appeal beyond current beauty trends, but there may be limited interest in markets without Sephora stores. Substantial marketing accompanies this publication. Recommended for larger public library collections or where there is demand.
