If you read and follow the directions you will have a flawless operation of the alarm system. I installed this product on a rainy day and it worked perfectly. For the price you can't beat it and it is so expandable that it will cover all of your home and outdoor sheds with no problems. There is a distance limit from sensor to central alarm unit of 300 feet. Satisfaction or return

Installed this product with 18 additional door/window sensors and 2 additional remote controllers in about 3 hours. No problems adding sensors to host. Everything worked fine straight out box. Located host in center of 1500 sq ft house w/siren about 15 ft from host. All sensor tripping alarm fine (even 2 in garage). Phone dialer called cell phone within 5-7 seconds. Intruder shouldn't have time to destroy host prior to it placing a call. Only issue I found so far is that the supplied siren did not stay on the entire time the alarm was sounding until host was disarmed about 3 out of 5 times during testing. Host always sounded it's internal siren. System ships with the siren, remotes, and two sensor programmed. Going to reprogram the siren before I contact support. Overall would recommend system.

this little alarm system is just what the doctor ordered for a starter alarm system. connect it up and it works. the siren is *LOUD*. the motion detector and door/window detector both work, too. this system, as is, will protect one room: for better protection, add on a few of the motion detectors, which can be had online for about $15. the best feature is that once connected to a telephone line, the alarm will call any set of numbers you want, including 911, and play a message that you record yourself, like "come to 111 mystreet because there is a burglar alarm going off!" or something.

Bought this system hoping to add a bit more security to the residence. The unit operates as advertised, and in some ways, has even exceeded my expectations. I recommend this unit to anyone, particularly those that live alone, as it at least allows you to minimize how much time a thief has to rip you off. This is an entry level system, so don't expect to have many customizing features, but this unit is pretty inexpensive compared to some others I've seen. I recommend to implement this product as more of a silent alarm, as the volume of the main and wireless speakers are pretty average in volume and annoyance factor. Also, an intruder may not notice the unit for an extra length of time, allowing law enforcement a better chance of catching the thief. Setup was easy, as long as you have no problem reading and following directions. $90 well spent.

  • A. Yes. You can set the auto dial to 911, your local police number, or any phone number you want. You should contact your local police and talk to them about doing that. The police in one town I lived in wanted people to fill out a form each year if they had an alarm system with dial out.

  • A. you can put in 6 different phone numbers for it to call, you make a message on the control unit just like a answering machine.

  • A. You can program any number you like, I would caution against having it dial the police because they might not appreciate a false alarm.

  • A. yes. it will dial any set of numbers, in order. i have mine set to dial my cell phone first. if i don't answer or if i just hang up without cancelling the alarm, it will then dial 911. it allows recording of a custom message - mine says "come to this address because there is a burglar alarm going off."

when it says the alarm host battery lasts 8hrs, does that mean that we can only leave on vacation or away from the house for just 8hrs?? what exactly needs to be plugged in to a home regular phone line and/or the wall electricity (AC socket)? thx!
by daGriffin 9/22/2010

  • A. 8 hrs is how long the internal backup battery will last when and if the power should ever go out.
by SecurityMan Inc - Tech Support8/29/2014

  • A. No. The battery lasts 8 hours in the event of a power failure or in the event that the thief cuts power to the house. The system runs of house power, so your vacation can be as long as you want.

  • A. as long as power is at your outlet, your unit runs on that. if power goes out, then it uses the internal battery. the control panel needs a power outlet and it also needs a phone line.

  • A. Under normal circumstance the alarm system is plugged into a standard AC wall outlet for power. If your power goes out for some reason, the internal battery will take over and should last about 8hrs. Connecting the unit to a phone line is optional, the phone connection is used to dial preset numbers and play a recording in the event your alarm is triggered.

  • A. I read the answer to this question and it said that it means that if you had a power failure then the charge would last for 8 hours, but when the power came back on it would reset and charge itself again. So, I think you can be gone as long as you like. Hope that helps.

I would like to know if this security system requires any installation or attachment to the wall as I live in an apartment and want to be able to take it with me and not to attach it to the walls.

  • A. You don't have to attach the main unit to a wall. You can simply place it on a desk. The motion sensor is typically mounted to a wall, but you could mount it to anything.

  • A. Host controller just needs to be plugged into the wall - could be placed on a bookcase etc. Sensors would need to be attached to windows/doors. I used the supplied 3M doubled sided tape for the sensors. Not easy to readjust placement. In an apartment I would see if that removable double sided tape for plastic hangers would be wide enough. Possible even use two strips side by side for the sensors (about twp figures wide) contacts are about 1 figure wide. Worth a try for peace of mind.

  • A. No installation needed. It can be placed anywhere close to a power outlet and phone jack. It does not have to be mounted on the wall. However, if a burglar broke in and found the unit and smashed it to piece, that would silent everything, including the phone dialer.
