    Rated 3.8 out of 5★ by 13reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Repectable Bike for Casual Summer Commuting. I got this bike as transportation during the warmer months in Minnesota. This is my first Hybrid (7-speed) bike and I purchased it because I enjoyed the old-school styling and relatively low price for a Schwinn. After my preliminary ride, I found the derailieurs needed minor adjusting (no surprise). Once adjusted properly (the manual includes pretty good instructions on how to do this), I found the bike to be a very pleasing riding experience. I especially enjoyed the gear ratios, finding the highest gear to be nice and tall. I did not expect this from a hybrid bike. It is quite easy to get this bike up to a respectable speed and keep it there.I am 6'2", 240 lbs., and this bike feels like it could accomodate twice that mass. So, you do get sturdy, but that also equals heavy. My only real complaint with this bike is the seat post tightening nut. It has a quick release on one side and a ROUND NUT on the other. If you ride with the seat any higher than the minimum, you will need pliers to tighten it properly.Overall, a good price for a good bike.PROS:- Attractive "Cruiser-esque" styling with the added benefits of 7 speeds.- Frame is sturdy, along with a very nice rear rack and chain guard.- Seat is pretty comfortable for commutes around 4-5 miles.- Affordable price point for Schwinn quality. (I purchased at $159)CONS:- Heavy steel frame is, well, heavy.- Plastic pedals, but they do seem fairly durable.- Grips of handlebars may collide with taller riders' knees when turning.- Adjustment nut for seat is round and needs pliers to secure it firmly at any height above the minimum. 06/05/2012
Rated 4 out of 5★ by A good bike for the price Having assembled several bikes in the past, I elected to put the bike together myself. I found the assembly process for this bike to be straight forward and got it in condition to ride in about 90 minutes. I immediately found that the derailleur gears and brakes needed to be adjusted, but that is to be expected. What I didn't expect was to find the bearings in the pedals were defective. A new set of pedals from Walmart solved the problem. Since then, the bike has been fine. It is heavier and has higher friction bearing than more expensive bikes, but it is a good value for the money. 07/22/2012
Rated 5 out of 5★ by Sharp Bright Red Old Style Bike from the 60's Love the old style look and heavy steel frame bike with modern cantilever brakes. It weights 38 lbs. on my home scale with all stock equipment including the bell. The basic frame, crank, handle bars, chain guard, rack and spokes are all made of steel. However I was surprised the handle bar stem, fenders, rims, brakes and even the bell chrome housing is an alloy since the magnet did not stick. This bike has a wonderful red paint finish and chrome accents - fenders, rack, seat spring, seat post, handle bars and cantilever brakes. Tires are blackwall Schwinn white lettered, nylon 700 x 35c (28"x1 5/8" x 1 3/8"). I have a vintage bike from the 60's sitting right next to my new Schwinn and even though it is from another manufacture the style is dead on. I gave the bike a 5 since it is a great value -if you like and remember vintage bikes! The hubs on both rims appear to be machined a little better grade for a low end / priced Schwinn bike. It will make a fairly good road bike especially if you take the time to true the rims and fine tune brakes and gears. If you can not do this yourself than I recommend a bike shop. The seat is comfortable as well as the handle grips both with cool red trim. This bike was built for vintage style and looks. It would not be my first choice for long distance road travel since it is a bit heavy. I own a GMC Denali for the same price $159.00 and it is 10 lbs. lighter and better rolling resistance than my new Schwinn. But it can't take me back to the 60's when I owned a similar bike of that time period. Schwinn / Walmart thanks for the great Memories!!! 10/10/2012
Rated 5 out of 5★ by My fender had a dent in it, other than that it is a good bike for occasional use. If you plan on using the bike every day, buy a better bike, you get what you pay for. 06/30/2012
Rated 5 out of 5★ by nice bike I am 6"6 300 lbs. the solid steel frame has a very strong feel under me. I am 65 years old and have not been on a bike for over 30 years. I bought one at the store and went to set up the brakes I noticed that the rear tire was bent. Returned it the next next day with a short wait and no problems. The second one was didn't need much fine tuning. Still day 2 and happy so far!! 08/05/2013
Rated 3 out of 5★ by Decent bike, but it will need to be tuned. I was looking for a very comfortable bike to commute with. I wanted to sit upright more and not hunched over like on a road bike. Need something with fenders, a rack, larger tires, and a few gears. this is a primary people mover bicycle. It's not fancy, but that is what is so beautiful about it. It is very inexpensive. I bought mine for $138.02 with free shipping. It would cost me more to set up my road bike for commuting than it would with this bicycle. Shilled to home in 2 days. The good:fits taller people very comfortable. I'm a tad over 6', but with very long legs. It is very easy and enjoyable to ride this style.Steel frame that is more forgiving to the rough roads than a stiff aluminum frame bike.Sweep back handle bars. I don't have to lean forward but can sit upright which is so so comfortable.Fenders to keep the road grim to a min in in-climate weather.Color is very nice. I like the red a lot. Mine was deeper red than the picture. Like the old fire engine red.The Bad:poorly setup from factory. Wheels were not true. Had a little wobble. I know how to fix it, but most people do not. Wheels, stem, and anything with a bearing had to much torque. I literally could not spin the tires. Maybe that was done for shipment.Frame was scratched from?? My box was not damaged, so I suspect it to be factory issue. Some paint blemishes also, but it is a $140 bike.I will probably get a new wheel set eventually. Could use some better wheels. These roll OK, but could use some improvement.Overall it is a good bike, or potential. Not great, but with a complete setup it will be very sufficient. If you do not have the tools or experience, just take it to your Local Bicycle Shop (LBS) and have them set it up. It will save you some headaches. They have all the tools, tricks, and knowledge.I would recommend this bike to someone looking for a comfort or commuter bike with the caveat of the previous paragraph. 09/12/2013
Rated 4 out of 5★ by Just what I wanted, great price and great quality. The instructions could have been clearer on the assembly. However, it took 15 minutes to assemble. I think it is a great looking bike, very comfortable. Quick delivery to the home. I would certainly do it again. 11/24/2013
Rated 4 out of 5★ by hard to find admiral Schwinn bike nice class American style bike. Nice colors, chrome front/back fenders, good resale value. Very comfortable seat.Complaint: 1st gear on this bike is like 3rd on a mountain, so harded to pedal...bit heavy to lift...handle bars too wide vs. cheaper mountain bike. Make the rims chrome, silver vs. white? 10/23/2012
