This unit uses a 5 amp hour AGM battery and it is replaceable.

It states in the manual that the battery is Sealed, maintenance-free, AGM, lead-acid. Nominal Voltage 12DC. 12V DC power outlet 15A fuse.

What is the internal battery&#39;s AH? And is it replaceable?

Complete charge may take up to 72 hours. All depends on how much charge was left on the unit and how long it has been sitting without use.

You don't recharge the air pump but you can charge the unit using an extension cord. To charge, flip the AC connector on the back of the unit UP and plug in an 18 AWG or larger extension cord. Plug the extension cord into a 120VAC electrical wall outlet and allow 24 hours to fully charge..

Charging

I've only had an occasion to use this once, but it started my car first time. My only concern is that the length of the cables is very short, maybe a foot and a half.

Worked great, one observation

Good Product

Needed to start a 2001 subaru forrester that died over a very cold night. Plugged it in, hooked it up and the car started right up. Love this item.

I have a '96 Exorer that is driven maybe 3 or 4 times a year no more than 50 miles total. So it sits unused 99% of the time. It has a really old battery that just cannot hold a charge for any length of time, even after being driven a little. But it is especially bad during Colorado Winters.'.

So 24 hours before I plan to drive it,  I connect the unit to the car battery and just let sit for a good 12  hours or so, just slowly boosting the old battery.  Then a 3 or 4 hour recharge of the unit. Finally put it in Instant Power mode and the Explorer starts up immediately.  No having no to wait for a charge to build up. 

And if I have to stop and turn the ignition off, another quick Instant Power, and onwards I go. 

Best $35 bucks I have ever spent!

Has paid for itself  pretty much from day one

No more finding a stranger to help and no more jumper cables.  This is a good value that can be carried along with you.  Make sure you keep the internal battery charged

Handy device

If you're like me, you're on this page because your car's battery simply won't stay charged (probably due to some nattering electrical issue that no one can seem to find and would cost thousands to MAYBE fix since no one seems to be able to isolate the issue). You've probably seen the portable chargers the roadside assistance folks bring out, and you think something like this'll do the job.

It won't unless your car is very, very small. And even then, it probably won't be an instant jump like that professional grade one.

So, if you need a portable battery pack for camping or a marine/motorcycle/ATV battery jumper, this will probably do the job just fine, but if you want that jumper AAA or whoever used to get you back on the road, you'll need one of the 1000-amp models.

This isn't what AAA uses to start your car.

I went to my local walmart and they had several brands and models in stock, but the Schumacher 600-amp Jump Starter was at a greater price($49.66).
It was already fully charged when I took the Schumacher 600-amp Jump Starter out of the box to charge it. Was happy not having to wait for the first initial charge on the internal battery. Took it out to my Riding lawn mower; hooked it up to the battery; cranked the lawn mower and instant start! OK item, easy to use. Has a USB port to charge devices with USB(USB cable NOT INCLUDED), has a 12v DC power outlet. Male to Male DC power adaptor cord is NOT INCLUDED(they have a form inside the box to buy a male to male power adaptor cord(4 foot in length) for $9.95($5 shipping cost) which will let you charge the Schumacher 600-amp Jump Starter while driving your vehicle or while connecting it to any DC power outlet. The 3 LED light isnt as bright as I thought; however it will work enough to see in the dark at a short distance; 20 or so feet.

One CON is the 8 gauge jumpers are very short. 16 1/2" in length. Having to hold it on a riding mower to jump start it or having to place it closest to a vehicle battery will be difficult.

Schumacher 600-amp Jump Starter Model SJ4

Was fully charged when I purchased it, but I put it on electrical for 8 hours regardless to be sure it was fully charged. Disconnected the battery to my v6 minivan and connected the jumpstarter. It didn't have the power to even turn the engine at all. I doubt this thing has enough juice to even start a v4 engine.

Will not start a V6 as advertised

I purchased this in store the other Day. Waited to use it after the initial 36 hour charge. Used it 2 days after to charge my cellphone, the light showed green initially after a minute of charging my cell phone, power source decrease to the middle light . I was able to charge my cell phone fully a title of 3rimes before it was completely dead. I re charged it and tried jumping my car and it did nothing... Checked the battery it change to green to red. I tried one more time and charged it fully and waited a day to charge my phone... This time it went from green to red within 5 minutes. Maybe it's just a bad battery... On my way to exchange it for another one will re update on new review. Other brands I've used would keep its charge longer ... Grab this one since it was small enough to leave in front seat without taking enough room. It's simple in design and not bulky but so far not reliable

I purchased this unit, charged it for 36 hours, the unit did not start my car, and I still had to call AAA.  

What a disaster. 

Purchase a quick charge, or a unit with more voltage.
