  • A. Yes. We use an outside antenna (Antenna Direct DB8) and get 35 channels which are 18-25 miles away thru tough terrain. We run the signal through a digital DVR for recording using the AV (red/white connectors) and also a straight thru coax connector which uses the DVR as simple in/out connection point putting the signal directly from the outside antenna to the TV. Use the remote to easily switch between the options (select AV or AIR on the easily accessed menu.) Not as difficult to do as it sounds, the instructions don't discuss this I don't think.. Just remember that if you do this use the coax in/out connector AND the AV (red white/yellow connectors. Note the latest version of this TV (same model number!!!# is vastly superior to the one we got a year ago. Tuner for the newer version gets more stations and the connectors are greatly more accessible, requiring less forcing of connectors.cabling. BTW, Both models have small errors on the WALMART site re specs #contrast ratio, brightness, yearly cost etc. when compared with the tech manual received. Probably a WM problem. Also newer version has controls on top vice earlier version on right side. Newer version has same visual area but is smaller because of smaller frame bezel. We used some old spare computer external speakers to make the sound perfect. Recommended if you are a sound perfectionist. This is a really. really, really good monitor and TV for the price.

  • A. tommylop1982 got several facts wrong: - "It has to do with refresh rate 1080 refreshes faster then 720" - No, it has to do with resolution: it is the number of horizontal lines of pixels. The refresh rate is a separate number : Hz. This TV has a refresh rate of 60 Hz. - "progressive scan which refreshes the picture radonley [sic]" - No, progressive scan refreshes all lines from top the bottom in sequence, whereas "interlaced" refreshes all odd lines first (from top the bottom) and the even lines on the next pass, and so on. Hope this helps to clear any confusion.

  • A. 1080 is full HD and 720 is half HD so the 1080 is better quality picture and has 1080 Pixals where 720 has half that 1080 is considered full HD the best you can get right now I hear talk they are coming out with 4000 HD but at this time I am not sure if it available as the cameras get better so will the TV's

  • A. 1080p and 720p refers to the resolution. 1080 is a higher resolution than 720.

  • A. It has to do with refresh rate 1080 refreshes faster then 720 giving you a pretty picture. The P and I you see is the difference between progressive scan which refreshes the picture radonley, or interlace which does it by lines (if you ever get really close to an old TV you can even kind of see the lines). At any rate 1080 is the clearest there is, however if your not to persnickety and are ordering a smaller TV set you might want to save your money and go with a 720.

Great TV for the money!

In a world that is driven by value, this tv makes the mark and beyond. I bought this TV to use as a monitor for my smart phone, but will now be using it for so much more. This TV has the normal cable line input, VGA monitor input with an audio input jack to bring the sound from your computer to the TV, 2 HDMI ports and RGB/Audio inputs. The picture is fantastic with the 1080p HD, and the controls are very easy to use. While the sound quality leaves some to be desired, everything else makes up for it! If you want a nice tv that has the ability to be used in multiple situations, this is the one to get. Fits perfectly on my desk, and has more than double the options at $50 less that a 24" LED monitor. It even came with it's own screwdriver to put the base on with ;)

My new travel trailer had a Magnavox 24" LED. It got 41 over the air channels but no CBS. I had bought the Sceptre for my motorhome that i sold and liked it so I bought one for my new 25' travel trailer. The Mag's guide only showed the tv program in progress. The Sceptre 's guide will show what comes next for almost 24hrs with plot line. It also has an amplified over-the-air signal which allows me to get 47 channels with CBS. It has more features too. I like the fact that the sleep timer is in 10 min increments. Another cool feature is the Favorites button. The sound was good in my travel trailer but I got a head phone jack to RCA converter and plug it into the Rv stereo/Dvd and it rocks... I have been a fan of Sceptres from my first LCD computer monitor in 2002. They have more features and better quality and lower price than other LCD/LED TV/monitors. They have always exceeded my expectations. Walmart had the best price of all my sources like Costco, Sams Club, Newegg, Ebay, Amazon...

The television was pretty big! I got this for my daughter, her last tv was 22', but this 24' seems a lot bigger rather than just a little bigger lol. For this to be an off brand tv, i was a bit scepticle, but it is great for my daughter! Also, whenever she doesnt need it any longer, or want a bigger one, i could def use this for a computer monitor! so thats a plus. Some people complained about the sound, im not deaf, and this tv goes inside my daughters room which isnt too big, but not so small room and does a great job. Im not sure if i would use it for a huge living room tv, with someone like my husband who is deaf, but it works great, the picture is great, the sound is great!, i just had to tell my daughter to turn it down last night because i heard her tv in the living room ( we live in an apartment). The only reason i didnt give it 5 stars is because i only opened it a week ago. i want to see how it will do after 6 months. hope this helps

Poor viewing angles result in distorted colors

Customer review by Pudmeister

Great pre-BF price, delivered quickly and despite FedEx's best efforts the TV arrived undamaged -- can't say the same for the box. The main problem with this TV is that is uses a cheap TN panel, resulting in poor viewing angles. If you are sitting directly in front of it, the display looks good. But if you are sitting off to the side, you'll notice the colors shifting and the picture degrading quickly. Even worse is if you are sitting on the floor looking up at the screen it shifts so bad you will think you are looking at a film negative of whatever you are watching. Walmart did not list the viewing angles, but Sceptre lists them at an exaggerated 170 H and 160 V. That's acceptable as a computer monitor for most people. For the best TV picture in a room setting look for models listing at least 176 degree viewing angles in both horizontal and vertical. Other Sceptre models have those better quality panels, but not this one.

Customer has been confirmed to have purchased the item from Walmart.

My sister-in-law recently purchased a new computer with a special graphics card that receives an HDMI cable. We wanted a bigger and better computer monitor than her 17 inch flatscreen. We had just enough room on her computer desk for a 24 inch screen. For the Wallmart price this Sceptre was the best option. Not only does she have a fine monitor but a full HD TV. The picture quality is beautiful and spacious for her computer gaming and changing picture background. I personally have the similar Sceptre 19 inch full HD TV with a built-in DVD player. I really enjoy this set and felt confident obtaining the 24 inch Sceptre TV for my sister-in-law. The sound quality is a bit tinny but adequate. My 19 inch Sceptre is the same. If this ever becomes an issue, I will hook up some external speakers. We have not hooked up the TV to her cable. We have bad air TV reception in our area, so we have not tested the TV option, but I have no doubt that it will perform just as well as my 19 inch Sceptre TV.
