Sauder Palladia TV Stand, Cherry, for TVs up to 47" 4.5 5 131 143
Quality Product for a Great Price I've purchased 'build your own' furniture from Wal-Mart in the past merely as a way to get additional storage space (bookcases, drawer sets, etc) since my apartment was fairly small. I recently moved into a house and wanted something that not only functions well, but looks good. This TV stand fit the bill.I was a little skeptical of the quality of the unit based on the price, but I was completely shocked when I began unpacking the box. No, it is not real wood, but the pieces are well-crafted and fit like a glove (I remember saying at each step "This better fit or I'll be upset," and it fit every time). There are a lot of parts (labeled to 'RR') and about 17 steps, but everything is clearly labeled and identified in the manual. The finished product is not only solid, but looks great. Sauder did a great job of hiding seams and making it look fancy, but not overdone. Our TV looks great on it and there are plenty of shelves for the cable box, blue-ray player, and gaming systems. There is plenty of space in the cabinets on either side.I was a little frustrated with adjusting the cabinet doors, but the again I'm a perfectionist. They clearly show you were the adjusting screws on the hinges are, but don't tell you what either turning to the right or left do (right pushes the side up, left pushes the side down). The instructions also tell you not to use a power drill. They tell you this so that you don't over-tighten anything - but that's a lot of screws to do by hand. I used one for the awkward angles and the more difficult parts (the pillars are solid, so getting the screw all the way in is tricky). As long as you are careful and go in slowly, it won't be a problem. This is a great product and I am thoroughly pleased with my purchase. 10/20/2011
Assembled in about one hour and fifteen minutes. The wood peices (excluding the funky shaped decorative parts) were cut and drilled very precisely which not only allows for hassle free assembly, you end up with a nicer looking piece when all corners line up perfectly. The middle shelves are fAirly deep and pretty wide most standard sized AV receivers and DVD players will fill without clearance issues. The side cabinets have 1 shelf each with three height settings. I personally use the cabinets for a Gensis and a N64 plus all of their controllers and accessories. the finished unit is very sturdy and nice looking.Unfortunately, Sauder left out some screws that were needed for assembly. 10/09/2011
