Rated 5 out of 5★ by RonaldB Best bookcase we've bought yet We've had plenty self-assembly, SCAN-like pressed wood bookcases over the decades. Most are brutally functional and don't stand up to being moved from one residence to another all that well. We bought two of these Sauder bookcases at a somewhat higher price than our usual, and are very pleased. The quality of finish is excellent (and exactly as depicted on the Walmart e-commerce site). One example of the quality is that Sauder provides plastic caps to cover the ends of the shelf support studs that are inserted into the sides of the bookcase. This reduces or avoids pressure damage to the veneer undersides of shelves, when heavy books are loaded. A nice touch.I had two sticking points during assembly; for one, I had to phone the Sauder help line. The agent who answered was pleasant and knowledgeable. She obviously had dealt often with customers assembling the exact product that I'd bought -- and was clear in her instructions. Finally, all the pieces fit together well, with a few minor adjustments on my part (no additional drilling or sawing was required). If we were looking for additional furniture, we'd definitely consider Sauder. 08/21/2013

Rated 3 out of 5★ by MoDani Why is it so hard to assemble ? Here is 1:07 am CST and I still haven't assembled this bookcase and I started at 830 pm. The bookcase is very durable and is heavy wood but the assembly part is not worth the time. I would go with something else if I were you. To much brain power for no reason. 03/02/2014
