Sauder Graham Hill Multimedia Storage Tower, Autumn Maple 22 30
Funtional & looks very nice - but sagging shelves! This product assembles easily enough and looks great against my home theater wall with all my DVDs and Blu-rays organized in it. However, each shelf is only rated for 7 pounds maximum capacity!? A full shelf (which is about 60 regular sized DVDs) bows fairly prominently in the middle. For the price this unit should come with much sturdier shelves!!! I know particle board is famous for sagging and I'm kind of wondering if they will break at some point. Other than that, the unit is quite stable and attractive (if you don't mind the shelves bowing).Sauder engineers, if you are reading this I have an idea. Since DVD cases (and the slight smaller Blu-rays cases) are of specific dimensions this DVD/Blu-ray Shelf unit should have a permanent middle shelf to add more support. Each shelf should be a specified and consistent distance apart! If you add the fixed middle shelf then you could add a slender, yet rigid wooden spine that runs vertical along the middle of the back of the unit and attaches securely at the top, middle and bottom shelves. This spine would have places for pins to be inserted that support the middle of each shelf to prevent bowing/sagging. This will also be much more pleasing to the eye while adding some peace of mind knowing the shelves are more secure. Just a thought. 09/06/2011
Attractive and functional This media shelf was really a find! I searched for something for days online and always came back to spending at least $175 to get something that would look decent. My need is temporary, but I hate to buy something that looks like junk. It looks very nice for the price, just don't have too much open space on the shelves because the back is noticeably cheap. The shelves all move, which is nice! I have not needed to secure it to the wall for stability even though it is recommended. I would recommend it to anyone. 03/31/2010
Good value There are 5 shelves can be set at whatever height you need. I put the unit together in roughly 1 hour and 15 minutes. The color pictured online is accurate. The back of the unit is rather cheap looking, but I have filled all the shelves with DVDs so the back can't be seen anyway. It's great to have enough storage for all my DVDs. If I ever run out of space, I will reorder this item again. 03/20/2011
