Samsung External USB DVD Writer Blue 4.2 5 11 14
Missing software I bought this mainly to play DVDs on a netbook purchased at the same time. The product arrived with a trial version of Nero (DVD software) that has the sound disabled. It directed me to a website where I could update the software for 50 British Pounds. I was able to download another free DVD player program but Walmart should not sell products without the necessary software to use them. The player was not cheap in anycase and we should have checked around. 08/24/2009
Does what it is supposed to do I now own a BLUE USB Samsung extenal DVD player. It saddened me when I got done at check-out. The $69.00 DVD unit ended up costing me $81.50 by buying it on line. (note; it is not sold in store)I am using it with an ACER Netbook BLUE in color, which has just three USB ports. The Samsung DVD unit uses TWO of those ports. Thank goodness the ACER Netbook has two USB ports on the right side which accomodates the DVD unit nicely, other wise plugging it in would have been a nightmare.I also want to note that in the research of this unit I noted there were a few comments or problems on several of the reviews about the drivers. I did not nor have I yet, downloaded the drivers CD that came with the DVD unit and it has performed exceptionally well so far. I have downloaded several programs and have watched three movies with the DVD unit. I was expecting it to draw on the battery life from the Netbook as its power sorce. It seemed to make very little difference, then again the netbook is just a few months old.I like it and could not ask for anymore than what it was designed to do and it works well for me! 09/21/2009
Samsung External USB DVD Writer Blue It was great product. Used all the laptops installation CD many programs as needed. Need improve new version near future. The Slim External DVD Writer seems lightly weight carry with case logic is perfect for the road trip. 10/26/2009
