    recorder I purchased this product to record old VCR tapes to DVD-R cd's.I had a very hard time with the user booklet. It was almost like a foreign language to me because I haven't used this kind of product before.I went to Samsung's website and got with livechat or I would never have understood how to operate it. I would like to see a simplier user booklet.The unit does a wonderful job of recording.I have only been using it 2 weeks. At this point time will tell, how it holds up.Beautiful, crisp recordings. 06/12/2009
    Wow! Wow! Wow! This DVD recorder/VCR unit is excellent! It is very easy to set up and the recordings I have made with it so far are as picture perfect as any I have ever seen. This is my first DVD recorder and I am very pleased with the way this products works. The product is actually easier to use than the manual makes it seem. I have only recorded in standard definition so far (no high definition recordings yet). The quality of the DVD at this setting is very, very good. I use satellite television (Dish Network) to bring in the signal. Since everything is digital, the recording is perfect on the DVDs.The price for this unit is great, too. I ordered it through WalMart.com and used Site-to-Store Shipping (free). Other units I have considered were often at least $20 more and often $50 to $100 more. This unit can record in higher quality, too.Site-to-Store shipping actually got the unit to me 4 days sooner than was expected. I will use this option again with WalMart. You can get it a few days faster by paying for shipping to your house. Since time was not a factor for me and I am at WalMart at least once a week, I use the free option.I cannot recommend this unit enough! Easy to set up, easy to use, and wow! the recordings are unbelievably good! 07/12/2009
    I had the same problem as in a previous review where lips are not in sync with the audio when dubbing from vhs tape to dvd. It was not a problem when copying from a camcorder that was plugged into the front input jacks. I called the Samsung help number and they told me to do a firmware upgrade on the dvd recorder. This upgrade did fix the problem. Everything else I have tried appears to work as advertised. The unit apparently upconverts the playback of vhs tapes also. I bought the unit to make dvd copies of 8mm camcorder tapes and vhs tapesand it does this job well. I have a cable dvr so I have not tried to record programs from the cable signal. 10/13/2009
    Not What I Expected I purchased this product to record TV programs on VCR tapes, as well as DVDs. I already own a VCR/DVD player. After hours of trying to figure out how to record on this equip, I contacted the mfr's online spt and learned that since I have cable TV, I can't prog this product to record. I was told that this product will only record via a cable box or satallite svc. I have regular cable TV. So,now own video PLAYER only. I will make future electronics in person at an electronics store with knowledgable associates to assist me in making the correct purchase for my intended use 09/19/2009
